Year 6 – Week 40 – Day 4 – Update #2 – 6:50pm

Brendan returned to the room after surgery still intubated. He is looking very swollen and bloated and he is running a fever, which they tell me is all expected.

The surgeon explained that there was an adhesion from previous surgery that tore on the right chest wall causing the bleeding. He is draining way less now and his blood pressure is able to stabilize. I left around 12:30pm because Trevor was missing me and Bill and I were due for a trade-off.

Not long after I left, they were able to extubate.

Brendan wakes up very confused and with lots of pain. They are needing to find the right blend of medication to keep the pain at bay but not knock him out. He will have to get up tomorrow morning and move. They want him to rest today. Double surgery is so hard on his tiny body and the massive transfusions don’t help either. We hope for a good night. Tomorrow will be hard.

Brendan is his very own super hero…you will help your son through this!! (((Hugs))), love and many prayers!!! 🙂
