Year 4 – Week 43 – Day 5

The week has been lost in tubes, meds, and the sounds of pumps running (mist, nebulizer, suction, etc).

Trevor just can’t handle it when the butter melts in to his waffle.

I think we’ve finally turned a corner. Today Brendan wore his cap for a few hours. We still are not back to pre-procedure days by a long shot.
We did manage a trip to Costco this afternoon. Too early for Halloween costumes??

Brendan is obsessed with everything super hero. Iron Man and Batman are his top favorites. If you introduce a new character, Brendan’s line of questioning always goes:
“Is he a good guy?”
“Is he an astronaut?”
“Can he climb walls?”
Brendan picked Batman over Iron Man this time. I thought for sure Trevor would choose Spiderman, but he picked Ultron.
443bt02

He wanted to be Ultron but insisted that he would wear the costume only if Ultron was a good guy.
443bt03

He didn’t want to be scary at all.

Brendan wore his costume for at least 5 hours.

There was a little problem with the sprinkler system in the back yard. Turns out a tree root was to blame.

A BIG tree root.

Batman really wanted to be outside helping and he did not want his muscle shirt taken off. But padded polyester and 100 degrees do not mix.

I haven’t heard an update from the doctors at all yet. More waiting ahead.

  1. You have very cute superheroes! 🙂 You would never know how sick Brendan has been by all of the happy smiles. He sure likes his Batman costume. It will be worn out by Halloween. It’s good that you could get costumes this early before they are gone.
Funny Trevor! A meltdown from a meltdown of his butter! I guess it just called for more butter! Not all bad!
I’ll bet the boys (except Bill) loved the root excavation. Never a dull moment at your house!
I’m glad Brendan is healing. Enough is enough! That must be very frustrating not to hear from the doctors after the meeting on Monday. You would think someone would let you know of the outcome.
I hope healing continues. We’ve heard about all your record-breaking heat…you’d think it would be too hot for the germs!
Lots of love and big hugs,

  2. Good morning from the east coast!! Well, we sure know who to call when we need some super hero intervention!!! Priceless!!! 🙂 Those costumes are awesome!!! Heal Brendan, heal!! His beautiful face looks terrific!! Truly hoping that life becomes smoother for all of you!! Fingers crossed that Brendan’s doctors come to the right decisions for him and they share them soon with you…and they are the ones you hope to hear!! Trevor must really be enjoying your back yard excavation!! Good luck with that too!!!! Hugs, prayers, and love!! 🙂

  3. 😉 😉 😮 🙂 I see “Batman” got to the root of the sprinkler problem. 😉 Great costumes !!

  4. Thanks for the update. Seeing their smiling faces is aiding my recovery. It makes my heart sing to see Brendan’s little face getting all cleared up. What an ordeal you have all been through since his procedure.

My thoughts and prayers are with you daily and thanks again for making me smile.
