Year 4 – Week 44 – Day 4

We are still waiting for communication from Brendan’s doctors. I believe that the cartilage removal procedure is still go for Sept. 21st, but I don’t know if they will attempt to decannulate. I am not even 100% sure about that date yet.
I am beyond frustrated that so few of my calls get returned. The people that are so helpful and do call are not the ones that can provide the answers.

Even so, we go on with our summer. Batman sometimes needs a little extra equipment.

Bill and I are trying one of these make-ahead-and-freeze meals plans. Twenty bags of dinner are going in to the deep freeze. They are all recipes that you thaw overnight, dump the bag in to crock pot in the morning and turn on. I am hoping it all works well, it will save a lot of time later.

These boys are getting so big! Today was a super special day for Trevor. I dropped him off for his first day of preschool! He is enrolled in a 2-day per week, 3.5 hour class at an awesome little private preschool. It should be just enough to help him work on his social skills. Right now there are only 4 other kids in his class, so he gets a lot of attention.

He was running around doing his “I’m a schoolboy” dance.

He was so excited to start school that he woke up really early this morning ready to go. He was amped about having other kids to play with. I dropped him off and he ran right in to the classroom and said, “bye Mommy! See you later!”

The report I got back at the end was good. I think he really had a good time; I also think he has a lot of adjustments to make for dealing with the new rules and environment. He has mixed feelings about how much he liked it. He is so sensitive (like his Mommy!). One of the things they do with the kids each year is they trace their bodies and paint the figure and cut it out and put it on the wall. Trevor liked being traced and he likes his cutout, but he was really upset that they got marker on his shorts and his leg.

The true test will be to see how he does when he gets dropped off on Thursday!

  1. Oh boy…a school boy!! 🙂 I’m sure Trevor will love having new friends when he gets into the fun he will have. What did Brendan think about being without him? Oops, I mean Batman? 😉
I am having some trouble with our internet…a big nuisance and irritation. I could hardy get the blog to load tonight. So glad it finally did. Such cute pictures of the boys before Trevor’s school!
Dinner in a bag sounds like a good idea and simplifies dinner time. Looks like you did lots of prep.
That must be so frustrating not hearing from the doctors about Brendan. I hope you hear something soon.
I miss you all and have been trying to figure out how to plan a trip to AZ. I always like having one on the books!
    Lots of love and hugs,
    Gramma xoxoxo

  2. Happy to hear that preschool started out well. Hope Trevor has a great experience there, and makes lots of good memories out of his experiences there.
On the subject of “experiences”, Bren… 😉 “Batman” I hope yours can be happily recalled, you have been through so much already.

  3. Good morning from the Lake House! Loved, loved, Trevor’s school boy dance!! Trevor will ultimately love pre-school…you are already over the biggest hurdle..”not wanting to stay when Mom leaves”!! Yay for Trevor!! It must be hugely frustrating, not having your phone calls returned by the proper people..just keep calling Tiffanie until the right person contacts you!! Us East coast people are notorious for being pushy and obnoxious……That’s because the right people never get back to us…so we learned to be pushy and obnoxious. LOL Wanted to throw a little humor in there, but sadly, it is true. I encourage you to call every day. Good luck!!! Batman is so adorable…does he know where Brendan is??? Hoping that you will find him soon!!! 🙂 Sending many, many hugs, prayers and lots of love!! 🙂

  4. It is super frustrating when people just don’t call you back! Sometimes I think doctors and specialists get so overwhelmed by their patient loads, they forget that each patient is a real person with a life, a need for answers, and a timetable different from the doctor.
So glad Trevor liked his first day as much as he did. He will have good days and a few stinky days here and there. Pretty soon, you will be lucky if you even get a “bye Mommy” as he runs off to play! It will be a nice break for you and good for the boys to spend some time apart. And when Brendan is cleared for going to school, he will probably jump right in because he will be eager to do what Trevor does!
Hope you get your answers soon and Trevor has a good day on Thursday!

  5. I should have read the posts in order (instead of getting caught up on the past three backwards, chronologically). 🙂 I hope that you have since heard more from the doctors. Not knowing is so frustrating and makes it hard to plan anything ahead.

Speaking of planning ahead, having 20 meals all premade will be great! I need to do that too, once we get our chest freezer up and running again. I made a few of those crockpot recipes and they were pretty decent. Which ones did you make?
