Saturday, the 3rd was the HopeKids Holiday Party hosted by Metro Auto Auction. They had 600 people in attendance! There were three bounce houses, a dinosaur, fire truck rides, buffet lunch, carnival games, presents, pictures with Santa and more. The boys had been looking forward to it all year.
They wouldn’t pet the velociraptor. It was cool though. Trevor waited all year to get a new inflatable hammer.
The fire truck ride was wild! They were almost doing donuts in the parking lot. The boys thought it was hilarious.
There was snow in 80 degree weather!
When we got back from the Christmas party, a special guest was waiting at our house – Gramma!!!
Gramma took them on a Christmas shopping spree and let them choose what they wanted for presents. Trevor picked a couple of nerf guns and a new scooter!
He loves it! He made Gramma chase him all around the block twice.
Brendan got a new Lightning McQueen and a Mack truck from the Cars movie. He also got hotwheels tracks and his favorite Paw Patrol Air Patroller and a Rover for Miles from Tomorrowland. He likes his new toys but he loves to cuddle for an hour.
To show their appreciation, they clobbered Gramma with bats. Watch out for these tough guys.
Trevor had school and Gramma went to see him do his Martial Arts class. After school on Tuesday, we went to Trevor’s favorite lunch spot, IKEA.
That’s where everything went downhill. Gramma either got a stomach flu or food poisoning and was so sick for the next few days. Just when she started to feel better, she got a bad cold. She was sick all week!
She should have boarded her plane today but is still not feeling great. That, plus the fact that Libertyville is getting 10inches of snow right now with a high of three degrees was enough to convince her to change her ticket. Now she is here until Friday!
While she was sick, I had to make Brendan a Mr. Dinkles (from the new Trolls movie). We went to the theater and saw it a second time. He loves it that much. Mr. Dinkles only has three words in the whole film but he is adorable, just not as adorable as Brendan.
This afternoon, the boys finally got to decorate their chocolate house. (We don’t like gingerbread)
Gramma delivers the house from the fridge.
Brendan is ready with his frosting squeezers!
Decorating was serious business
Some candy and frosting stealing
After our take out dinner from Fibber Magees… (Gramma could not go home without fish and chips dinner)
We decided to eat some of the house. The boys tried to karate chop it apart.
Kung Fu Gramma had to step up. YAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
She doesn’t believe her own strength
We have lots of plans this week to do the things we wanted to do last week. Stay tuned for a trip-in-a-trip adventure coming soon.
You are such a good mom and talented artisan.
Good evening from the East Coast!! What a wonderful post (minus poor Gramma’s malady 🙁 ) So much fun at the Hopekids holiday party!! Snow at 80 degrees! Wish it were 80 degrees here…we are in the single digits…brrrr!!! Nice job on the chocolate gingerbread house. It looked yummy!! The boys were really in to it…almost a shame to eat it LOL. Hoping that Gramma is feeling much, much better and can enjoy the last part of her visit!! Hugs, love and prayers!! 🙂
