The surgeon came up from the OR to say that they found bleeding from his right chest wall and cauterized. I do not know why it was bleeding, but his chest cavity does have significant scar tissue from all the previous surgery and tubes. They removed about 300cc of clotty blood from the area so they are very happy that they re-opened and got to that now. It would have caused major problems later. They also did get a good look at the Fontan and said it is working perfectly with no leaks. His cardiologist is thrilled with how strong his heart is and his valves are all in good shape.
Brendan’s nasal swabs done yesterday came back positive for MRSA. He has had a history of skin infections on his face from MRSA, but nothing for a long time. It just means that our family is colonized with it. (A large number of people are). So now we are on contact isolation. It means nurses, doctors, therapists, visitors have to wear gowns, masks, and gloves. It also means no visits to the playroom for Brendan as he starts to heal. I am supposed to wear a gown if I go to the cafeteria or other areas of the hospital.
I have to leave the room for them to bring him back up and get him settled. I will post another update soon.
Thank you for the update my prayers are with you and I know he’s going to be fine He is a champ and will push fed so he and Trevor can jump in boxes together again. I still hear the giggles from a week ago when I saw him last happy in the box with his brother My prayer is that I get to hear that again real soon God bless
Continued thoughts, prayers and well wishes for Brendan. Thank you for taking time to keep us updated. ❤💙💚💜💛
