Week 39 – Day 7

Brendan’s night was horrible. We’ve just pushed his weaning too hard and he was not able to cope with the symptoms. After talking with the doctor this morning, we’ve had to take a few steps backwards in his drug schedule to stabilize him and then we will have to move forward at a more conservative pace.
After having his adjusted dose, he spent most the day kind of spaced out and tired but he refused to sleep.

He took a 10 minute nap holding on to the side of his crib like he thought he was going to fall out.

He woke up feeling a little better. The smiles took work, he only gave out a few. Brendan had to put on a shirt today so he could have a picture with Gramma and Trevor.

This is Trevor’s “I have to share Gramma’s lap with Brendan?!” face

“Brendan is putting his face in my hand space”

Having a brother isn’t so bad

Trevor wants the camera

Gramma had to give the boys five and a half weeks worth of hugs and kisses today. She got on a plane and went home, but will be back at the end of August for Brendan’s surgery admission. We all will miss her!

After a good solid nap tonight, Brendan woke up in a very happy mood and was ready for kicking in his bouncy seat. The boys played together while video chatting with The Bearded One and Aunt Schnah.

We are hoping for a much better night tonight. We are also hoping that Trevor has a good morning routine, he is going to have the biggest adjustment to make with Gramma gone.

  1. Good Morning from the Lake House!! Gramma is so lucky…she leaves two precious grandchildren (they were in their beds this morning???..not in Gramma’s special luggage???!!) and goes home to three more special grandchildren! Hoping that her trip home was safe and uneventful. I have been looking into cloning Grammas, but the process still neeeds some perfecting. That would make this whole traveling thing so much easier!! And we will need three granmmas come January!!! Just loved “Buzz Lightyear’s” portrait! (Uncle Rich’s affectionate referral to Shannon and the Bearded One’s newest family addition). The bearded baby was priceless. Trevor is maturing so nicely. He’s starting to get that little boy look, his infant days are fading fast! Gramma’s pictures with the boys are heartwarming. So glad that she will be able to return to help out with Brendan’s surgery!! I wish that we could wave a magic wand and make the weaning process for Brendan less stressful!! He has come so far. We recognize that it is frustrating to see him struggle with the med change..that is one aspect of his healing that we all wish would go smoothly for him. I will say it again, Brendan and Trevor, you have awesome parents!!! Ever in our prayers, lots of love and extra hugs for all. 🙂

  2. Now I am the one going through withdrawal! Brendan is right, it doesn’t feel good at all. It was very hard to leave, and I will definitely need my form of methadone (Kayla, Ashley, and Caleb).
My flight was very delayed due to monsoon weather and the almost daily haboob in AZ. I made it home to very hot weather that feels like a sauna, and is very hard to breathe!
The time change will take awhile to get used to. Gizmo was ecstatic to see me, and couldn’t get enough sniffing of me and my stuff, from the Eins and Quinn smells on everything!
I would have definitely exceeded my luggage weight limit to smuggle home babies now! The boys have grown so much, and Brendan didn’t “travel light”! When he goes to the doctor, it takes 2 people to get everything ready, packed, and loaded, and Tiffanie or a nurse to ride next to him for suctioning. I think I will have to wait to bring them home!!
I will now be the most impatient blog follower, waiting every day to see the pictures! 🙂 Now that I am not there, there won’t be 80-90 pictures a day to choose from!
Give my babies lots of hugs and kisses and “smothering” from me.
Lots of love to all of you.
    Gramma
