Week 41 – Day 6

Another weekend has blown by, almost another week has passed. I am glad this blog is here because reflecting on a few weeks ago or a few months ago or late last year really keeps things in perspective. Today was trach tube change day again, and even though we have done at least 10-12 of them, it still makes my heart race a bit. When I was waiting for these babies to be born, I couldn’t have imagined the level of acute care that we would still be providing at almost 42 weeks old. Heart surgery was almost 5 months ago and we imagined that to be our biggest hurdle. I can’t wait until the day we can get rid of this trach. Still, I have to just look back to see how much Brendan is growing, changing, and improving. Trevor is amazing too, he does new things every day to make me laugh.

Trevor has Christine wrapped around his finger now. He got her to sit and hold his ice cube for him to soothe his little tooth bud. That way his little fingers don’t get cold.

He was excited to show Johnathon his favorite videos on his laptop

Brendan enjoyed lying in bed and playing with Jacque on a long chain.

Brendan had another mixed day. He has phases of extreme irritability and then super happiness. He occasionally throws these epic tantrums now when you try to put him in his bed. It used to be hard to tell when it was pain or withdrawal, but sometimes these are obviously just tantrums because he wants to get picked up. I told him that next time I was going to video tape one of his fits. It is the only way anyone will believe me, I mean look at this face and tell me it looks like a baby that has behavioral issues!

“Mommy says I am not allowed to pick tape or pull tubes. Nobody has said that I can’t bite through it!”

I am just waiting for the top teeth to come in and then biting through the feeding tube could be a real threat! We are so close to it being gone. 30 days until surgery!

  1. Good Morning from the East Coast! Brendan and Trevor it may be awhile before we can catch up on your blogs!! Perhaps I will become more technically advanced and will be able to utilize alternative accesses to check in!! We will search for computer access while away. So, in the meantime, Brendan, hold off on more teeth til after surgery. Trevor, hold off on walking for a bit…We wouldn’t want to miss it!! Otherwise, keep up the great jobs you both are doing in growing up and becoming really cool little boys!! (Actually, we won’t miss all that much, but will miss checking in :-(…we are off to Colorado and Alaska (until Aug. 24th)…both areas have limited mobile access…so we have our doubts that we can check in). So, we are including our many prayers….so many hugs for Mommy, Daddy, you two, and Grampa Jack…..tons and tons of kisses…. and lots of love!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

    Nope that’s not “behavioral Issues”, that’s – – – “Brendan”.
I got to that picture, and had the best laugh in a long, long while. I don’t think there will ever be a “dull moment”. ๐Ÿ˜‰
