Year 2 – Week 14 – Day 2

What a day! Brendan is definitely making huge improvements every day as he gets used to the lack of drugs. He still has sleep issues. When I tried to put lotion on his legs, he screamed as if I was rubbing him down with broken glass. But he is starting to act more like himself and had an overall great day. Trevor slept really well overnight and took a nice long nap this afternoon so he was in a better mood too!

Given the craziness that has been going on lately, we haven’t been keeping up all of our daily routines. One of the things we do at night as the boys are going to bed is pick up and put away all the toys. Everything has to have all of its pieces and parts and it gets put in the same place every day. Since things got all wildly unorganized, we pulled everything out of the box. It was a good time to wipe the toybox out and clean the toys as they got put back.

The boys were such good helpers!

All clean! Only two small pieces of things still missing. They can not have gone far.

Brendan had speech therapy today. I was worried about his mood and willingness the way things have been going this week. But he BLEW US ALL AWAY. I don’t know who this baby is and where is my Brendan. He was EATING green beans. It was monumental improvement. It is such a big deal, I have lots of pictures. I couldn’t decide which ones were the cutest, he looks so happy chomping on beans.

“Will this make you all clap too?”

We had to let Trevor play with some beans too, he is learning how to use a spoon himself. He ate most of his beans. He is not amused with all of the attention Brendan is getting.

More cute cute cute!

And of course, video evidence.

After he was all clean, he was worn out. He wouldn’t nap, so he just lounged and watched Yo Gabba Gabba.

Trevor likes when Brendan earns some quiet TV time.

We are on our own tonight (no nurse) so I hope Brendan sleeps well. No more sick nurses, they had better all get better quick!
Glenna, Eric, and the rest of that family.. we hope you all recover too. That stomach bug going around is a nasty one.

  1. What great news that Brendan feels better, and eating green bean!!! YAY Brendan!!! Gramma would be clapping, too, if I was there.
Poor Trevor, it’s obvious that he would be envious of all the attention Brendan is getting…he has NOTHING to play with! 🙂
I hope you have a good no-nurse night. Maybe Brendan has turned a big corner, and he will sleep better.
Lots of love and big hugs,
    Gramma

  2. Good Morning from the East Coast! Must refer to your previous post replies….Tiff”, just love your humor and am most impressed that your brain functions so well when all around you is a moment by moment existence! My vote is for “The Beardless One”. Brendan, Brendan !!! What an amazing milestone he is reaching. I wonder, sometimes, various meds can effect different senses….even taste….perhaps food just tastes better now to him! Wouldn’t that be wonderful!!?? Trevor is definitely taking all of this in, planning his next approach, how to keep ahead of Brendan. Hoping that this finds you all a bit more rested, being that last night, the boys slept more restfully!! Oh yes, that new stomach bug is a hum-dinger…it found its way to the east coast…am hoping that we avoid it. May all that have been so unlucky, feel well soon!! Prayers, hugs and much love!!!

  3. What a beautiful sight Brendan chomping green beans…..Is icecream next??? mmmmm I don’t know how you would pick the best one out of that bunch of pics. The toy area looked great…..Wonder which one will start a food fight a little later……ugh just thinking crazy thoughts..I am sending a big hug to both boys a little bigger to Trevor today…..v

  4. I’m jealous of their Hug-a-World! They need the Hug-a-Moon to orbit it. 🙂
LOVE all the green bean pictures; go Li’l B, go!

  5. Well Done !! Brendan 😮 🙂 🙂 🙂
    – – – – Later…..lying on the cushion. . . . “I’m just all Beaned out”!
    – That’s pure “Hollywood” 🙂 🙂 🙂
Happy to see the improvement, sometimes prayers do get answered.

  6. Green Beans! Willinging eats green beans? Even Kayla won’t do that, and she is almost 12 years old! Way to show up your big cousin, Brendan! Did your toy “helpers” manage to do anything productive like putting toys in the box, or was it mostly supervision? =)

  7. That’s monumental!!! Yeah Brendan!!!

Love to all of you!! And here’s hoping you can get some good sleep soon. Lord knows you’ve got a great bed now, you just have to have a little time to spend in it. 🙂
