Time for Kayla’s last band concert at Big Hollow. This will be a fairly short post, just the videos. We have a piano recital in 2 days and a chorus concert in 5 days, so lots more video to come!
The theme of the whole concert was movie music. The 8th grade band started with the “Captain America March”.
The second piece was a version of “Eyes Open” from The Hunger Games. Some girls in the stands couldn’t wait to leave for a quick break, so they block my video near the end.
The final piece (Kayla’s favorite) was from The Lord of the Rings. You will hear some spots where 3 clarinets are carrying the melody. Kayla is one of those 3 (you can see her just under the hands of the conductor on the far left of the band, front row). Those same girls come back right at the beginning.
Hope you all enjoy!
Wow, Kayla! I can’t believe you had your last band concert at Big Hollow! You have made such wonderful progress in the 4 years you played with the band, and all of those gold medals from the contests!! I am so proud of what a great musician you have become. It’s just one of your many talents. 🙂
Whoops! My comment posted before I was ready…sorry!
I just want to say what a beautiful, talented, smart, kind and generous young woman you are. I’m a very lucky Gramma to have you. I love you very much, and I always will. 🙂
Good morning from the East Coast!! What a wonderful way to start our day….enjoying your concert Kayla!!! You and your fellow band members sound terrific!! I (Uncle Rich needs to be at the Lake House) am so looking forward to seeing you and the family for your graduation party!!! Please find a moment during my visit to play for me???? Thanks for thinking about my request! Tell Ashley that I am anxious to hear her play also!! Enjoy every moment of the rest of your school year and I can’t wait to see all of you!!! Hugs and love!! 🙂
It was an excellent band concert.
Now, looking forward to the piano recital, and the choral concert.
