Week 3 – Day 5 – Meeting “Gramma”!

I picked up my mom from the airport today and we went straight over to the hospital to get there in time for Trevor’s awake time. Trevor’s feeding tube is gone!! That is one more huge step for him, that means he is eating all on his own. He was all lazy and sleepy with me and did not want to take to breastfeeding at all today, but he did eat. We have some working to do with that boy. The good thing is, Mom got to feed him some of his bottle and spend time with him.

We had a quick lunch in the hospital cafeteria and then went over to see Brendan. He is looking better and his numbers are all good today. The surgeon came buy for a checkup and, in the nurse’s words, was “ecstatic” about how good the ileostomy opening was healing. The bag was connected and he is passing waste well. His tummy measurement went down 2cm and they were very happy with that. We are still hearing rumblings about surgery Monday, but the nurse wasn’t sure. We’ll try to get to Brendan’s hospital earlier tomorrow to catch the doctors on their rounds. They’ve weaned down more on the ventilator again but he is still “riding the vent” for now, letting the machine initiate his breaths.

Pictures!

Mom meeting Brendan for the first time

Brendan has a new heart shaped blanket with weird fish on it to help shade his eyes. And we brought him a CJ7 to keep him company.

Brendan still has weird toes

  1. All good news! I can’t believe how much Trevor looks like Bill!!!
The pictures are super cute too. Brendan makes that little CJ7 look HUGE! 🙂

Trevor is giving Mom a “Whatchyou talkin’ ’bout Gramma?” look.

  2. So glad “Gramma” arrived safely!! You know, Grammas’ have a special healing touch! Easy to see that the boys were to glad to see her! Hugs and kisses!

  3. Soooo sweet. Enjoy these precious moments, Bill and Tiff! This reminds me of the first time my mom saw Amelia. She had been released from NICU and had been home about 3 weeks. She was 3 months old. They sat in the rocker and giggled at each other. My heart took a picture.

  4. It is just so good to see Trevor in normal baby form – no tubes, wires, etc.. Just teeny little him in his baggy little clothes. That look he is giving Mom is priceless! I am glad that Brendan is bouncing back so well. For all that has happened to him, he just bounces right back after each one!
