Week 8 – Day 7 – HoHoHo! Homecoming!!!

What a Christmas present and a way to wrap up a week! It has been a HECTIC day, so much to remember, a lot of worrying, tons of phone calls. We had to call three separate companies to get scheduled for deliveries of home care supplies. We are trying to figure out our schedule and how to set up the rooms. The next week will be a bit chaotic. But all that matters is that

Great-Grandma bought them this amazing travel system with the car seats that snap on to this double stroller. It is the easiest click and go thing, and we affectionately call it “The Whale” when it is all together. It is really large to push around, but it has a ton of storage and that is what we needed today! The belly of The Whale was packed.

Brendan color coordinated with his carseat in his ducky pajamas, Gramma would be proud! His faithful guard dog is riding with him on his journey home.

Trevor is not ready to watch Monday night football, he is just due to eat and the football binky keeps him diverted.

The whale loaded for departure

Through the lobby and out the door!

And in to the car we go!

Two babies on the dining room table, I could just eat them up!

Brendan is home!

This is his spot right now, on the couch next to me when I am not holding him. He can be elevated for his feedings and the O2 concentrator is behind the arm of the couch. The machine makes noise like Darth Vader and is about the size of a dorm fridge. His oximeter is on the floor.

Despite a bit of flustered preparations when we got home, we are doing OK tonight. Bailey brought us a delicious home cooked meal and we could not be more grateful for not having to think about cooking.

Brendan needs to eat eat eat and grow grow grow so that he can be strong for surgery. We need to keep him comfy and stable and hopefully we will not end up back in the hospital before February!

Welcome to the road, Brendan. You travel now, in the great company that is Family, the journey that is life.
Tiffanie, Bill, may the bright and happy moments always outnumber the dark and troubled ones.
    Merry Christmas !!
    Love,
    Dad

  7. Wish I had such profound words of wisdom to share! Cuddle those two until they can’t stand it anymore (about age 13). Watch their appetites grow as they grow (also reaching peaks around age 13)! Get ready for mountains of dirty diapers and brutal schedules. In the end, it is all worth it! Brendan had his new birthday -Merry Christmas to you both and those boys! P.S. – was that a whale full of nuggets?
