Week 16 – Day 5

Brendan had another day of just moderate agitation/irritability with no real explanation. His heart rate stayed high and he was breathing rapidly. He still was having some reflux issues.
The doctors realized that they should probably give him his Prevacid orally instead of in his NJ tube or else it would be totally bypassing his stomach and not getting a chance to work.
When we called in last night, they were so pleased with what a good night he was having, so we were really hoping to see him having a great day.
He won’t be able to come home until we can all figure out what is going on with him.

Gramma visited today so she could have a chance to “smother” Brendan

Brendan likes to get his “teeth brushed”. This little sponge on a stick is great for cleaning his dry lips and gums. But while cleaning him up, he really likes to lick and chew on it like a lollypop.

Getting Brendan all tucked in when we left. He had settled down a bit with Gramma holding him and hopefully he was able to get some rest.

Trevor slept a lot today hanging out with daddy so he had energy for some tummy time.

Trevor is now totally ready for walks outside, he has a hat to protect his bald little head!

  1. I am no doctor.
That said, I did spend 40 years of my life “troubleshooting”, so I understand the basic concept of identifying *why* something is not going as it is supposed to, and fixing the problem.
[ ” Brendan had another day of just moderate agitation/irritability with no real explanation. His heart rate stayed high and he was breathing rapidly. He still was having some reflux issues.” ]
    Q. Is Brendan’s, agitation/irritability , caused by the pain he is in?, or is the pain caused by agitation/irritability ? Has anyone thought to check his blood for possible chemically caused, nervous system misfunctions ( I don’t like the word malfunction ) that could result in agitation, irritability, and/or reflux?
How about hormone balance?, These biochemicals are powerful things, and are the triggers for how we grow and develop. Some of them control how we feel, and behave, and could be responsible for the agitation/irritability which then causes things like , heart rate staying high and rapid breathing, and reflux. Is there one of these in excess ? or possibly insufficient ? Why ?
My concern was triggered by ……
[ “The doctors realized that they should probably give him his Prevacid orally instead of in his NJ tube or else it would be totally bypassing his stomach and not getting a chance to work.” ] Duh !!! You think ???
We should never stop asking WHY ????? When you answer the question Why are these things happening, and fix the “why”, the physical symptoms of *these things*, will go away.
I just want to see my Grandson healthy, happy, and growing strong. I just want to see you, Tiffanie, and Bill, raising two twin sons, without all this drama.
I want Trevor to have a strong and healthy brother, to share his childhood with………and so much more.
My prayers are with you, Tiffanie, Bill, Trevor, and Brendan.
May God bless you, and may fortune favor you.
    Love,
    Dad
