Week 18 – Day 5

It was Daddy’s day at the hospital today. He spent the whole day with Brendan and even held him for four straight hours to keep him happy. It is difficult now to get him in to a good position for holding, he has wires going to both sides of the bed that don’t give enough slack to take him out. It takes a lot of nurse effort to move him to the chair next to the bed. It will be even worse if he has to have to cpap machine again. He was working hard to breathe today, so we expect that it could be coming any time. He hates it, but if it is what he needs to keep that airway open, it is what they will do.
We are very close to having a decision on procedures. I can’t make up my mind which route I am hoping for, all of the choices have risk and lots of work ahead. I get more nervous as Monday approaches.
I’ll be spending most of tomorrow there with him and will cuddle him as much as possible.

Daddy and Brendan

He really likes to be upright, so they had him in a bouncy chair today

I had a Trevor day today. He is sleeping so well at night, so now he figures he doesn’t need to sleep during the day. He took a handful of 15 minute naps here and there and then finally one 2hr stretch in the afternoon. He is getting funnier every day, he thinks it is hilarious now to watch me eating, especially something crunchy. He was almost laughing at me.

  1. Happy 4 month old birthday (February 25th) Brendan and Trevor!! So much has happened in your first 4 months.
Trevor, you spend your time getting cuter and funnier with each passing day. Brendan, you have spent your days fighting and getting more clever all the time! No 2 little boys have more love and support for health and happiness than you. So many caring and concerned people think you, pray for you, and wish you the best. You are blessed with a wonderful Mommy and Daddy, who wanted so desperately for you to come and be their little boys. Here you are! 4 months old !! 🙂
Gramma and Grampa send you love and kisses. Gramma will see you again soon. XXXXOOOO

  2. Hi Mommy and Daddy,
Please be assure that you have been in my daily thoughts and prayers for your continued strength in supporting your babies and for a positive prognosis for Brendan so that soon you can have your two boys at home without extra worries.
Keep up the great work that you are doing as parents!
    Kisses to the babies.

  3. Those pictures of Trevor are a crack up. He is so funny and a riot in the sink. I put Brendan back on prayer chain at church this morning. love u

  4. Kayla says that you need to have a bag of kettle chips! That would really get Trevor going! I hope that at the very least, tomorrow’s big care conference will give you a plan. No matter how tough the plan may be, just having a plan to focus on and do will help a lot toward your peace of mind. It will feel like something is going to be done to help Brendan rather than just keep him (and you) in limbo.
