Week 21 – Day 6

As if we need any other drama to make this week more trying..

This morning when we walked in to the room, someone had gone and packed everything up. All of our personal items from the closet and drawers were jammed in to bags and piled on to a wagon and under his crib. It looked like he was about to wheel out the door. The nurse was clueless about it though, she said he wasn’t going anywhere. It was very unsettling. They wonder why I feel like I can’t go home and rest – every time I am gone something happens and then nobody can explain it.
It turns out that due to staffing issues, they were about to move Brendan to another room. They packed him up and he was ready to go and they changed their mind at the last minute. They didn’t even think it was a good idea to call me and let me know that he was being moved or that all my stuff was packed for me. Even when they didn’t move him, they could have warned me before I show up to the hospital and think that I had been robbed when all my stuff was missing (or just packed).
Brendan had a pretty rough and uncomfortable night and was unhappy this morning. Even though he finally fell asleep while we were there with him, his cpap ventilator alarm kept ringing like mad because the mask wasn’t fitting right and it was reading a pressure leak.
After a total meltdown and a mask change, he seemed to get some rest and his numbers looked better than ever.

Add to that a doctor on duty today who answers questions or attempts at conversation with as few words as possible and I was feeling seriously crabby. He indicated that Brendan was making progress, however slow. All this misery for him will be over eventually.

Trevor is getting familiar with his high chair a little at a time. We brought it in to the living room and took the tray off and let him just sit in it a while.

Gramma was talking to Trevor but Eins thought she was talking about treats so he listened in too.

Trevor was having fun in his chair

Since he was comfortable, we added the tray. He was fine with it since it held up mirror baby

He didn’t look so small in the chair until we put the tray on!

  1. I went to the alter for Brendan again today. And my son, Jeremy’s Sunday school class prayed for him this morning. So did my Sunday School class and then again for evening church. Just want you to know prayers are coming from every direction. For you, Bill and Trevor too. You all need then also.
Trevor looks so adorable and fun and happy. May God continue to Bless all of you. Love Michelle

  2. Good Morning from the East Coast! Your roller coaster ride keeps going! Sure hope that today’s news will offer logical and concrete directions for Brendan’s care. Not having a somewhat “set” plan, just totally undermines the ability to cope with all that is going on! Tiffanie, Bill, Trevor, and Brendan, hang in there, it will get better!! In the mean time you are all just amazing!! We ditto Michelle’s entry, we too were at church 2 times on Sunday, the East Coast has you covered!! Prayers, much love and super-dooper “coping” hugs to all of you!! 🙂

  3. I know how we both hate negative comments so I will hold my words regarding Brendan’s Sunday Doctor and pray that his skills outweigh his bedside manner. I am sure you will remember thow to function without all the drama when it is all over and I continue to pray that he will be home soon. Trevor well, the little guy is lovin life as baby’s should and soon it will be Brendan’s turn to join him…v

  4. The day will come, when “Mirror Baby”, is relieved by “Twin Brother”…..then, a whole new adventure begins. Until then, hope, love, and prayers.

  5. Upon reading these posts from friends and family today, I am deeply touched by the poetic wisdom they’ve shared.. Thank you especially vsample and trainsdad~

I pray shalom shalom over you, sweet Brendan… I ask our mighty God to take away all tears, struggles, pain and uncertainty and replace them with a quickening of His healing hand of mercy and healing.

Bill and Tiffany… I pray for you both uncommon endurance and continued Courage.

    With all my heart~
    Aunt Jen

  6. I love how Eins is showing more interest than Trevor in that photo! Just wait until E & Q connect that high chair + baby = free samples and clean up! Dogs love baby food! Lots of prayers are coming from Midwest too, from us, our friends and colleagues, and from the entire First Pres family! Be strong when you need to, let it all out when you can. It’s OK to not be strong all of the time – even SuperMom and SuperDad are allowed to hang up their capes once in a while.

  7. “Gramma was talking to Trevor but Eins thought she was talking about treats so he listened in too.” I LOL’d…

Sorry you were alarmed by B’s things being packed up for the move. Thank God he was there when you arrived. I would have been alarmed too!!

Thinking of you all and here for you in every possible way. Love and hugs.
