Year 2 – Week 9 – Day 6 – Merry Christmas!

It sure didn’t feel like Christmas day around here. There is so much going on with the change in nursing and stress from jobs and other responsibilities. It should have been more relaxing and fun. We had good times though. There is always some part of the day that will make us smile.

Trevor found a way in to Brendan’s fort!

The boys are not old enough to really understand presents or Santa or all of that, so we didn’t put effort in to wrapping gifts or doing stockings. Next year they will definitely be more in to it. They did have a few wrapped gifts from friends. Trevor enjoyed tearing the paper and crinkling tissue but Brendan did not like it!

Trevor picked out this gift at Toys R Us when we did our shopping trip. It has real strings that we thought would be perfect for Brendan’s scritching fingers to strum.

Trevor took this picture. Not bad!

Brendan’s former nurse came by to visit for Christmas. Coincidentally, she also picked out a guitar (and boombox!) for the boys. It is perfect because now they can jam together and make all kinds of noise!

Both guitars play all kinds of little songs that will surely get stuck in my head.

This blue one plays an electric guitar version of “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes”, in addition to “Wild Thing”, “Oye Como Va”, “Yankee Doodle”, and “In the Hall of the Mountain King”. Who picks this stuff? What a variety!

After playing with guitars, my memory card got full and my camera battery died, so the rest of the cool new presents will have to be photographed tomorrow. Tonight, Bill put together the workbench playset from Great Grandma Bobbie. We can’t wait to see what Trevor thinks. We got some really cool light up CAT trucks from Bailey. Brendan got an exercise ball for therapy from his new nurse that he loves to bounce on. I have more stuff for them that I haven’t even taken out yet. It can wait a while, they certainly have plenty to play with!

We are very grateful to Jonah & Christine tonight for delivery of a delicious turkey dinner. We probably would have just had something from a can otherwise!

We are missing our families and traditions and hope that things will be so much different next year. Looking back to last Christmas and how much things have changed, we can only imagine what lies ahead!

  1. They look very cute in the picture with the two guitars. They’ll have to come up with a catchy name for their first duet recording!
I am so happy to see how they play together. It’s cute the way they steal things from each other. Brendan is quite clever! When we were video chatting, you could see him plotting his plan to take things he wanted, and then you could see Trevor’s disapproval, and his plan to get it back!
Love all the pictures! Each day brings something new.
    Lots of love,
    Gramma

  2. Wow, look at that shredding guitar solo pose that Brendan’s rockin’! Just get Trevor to jump through a wedding cake, and you’ll be able to recreate the entire “November Rain” video!

  3. Brendan, Trevor, Your Mom spoke of Tradition, and in all the holidays of the year, family tradition is strongest with Christmas.
My second Christmas, was Year 2, Week 5, Day 6. There has been a lot of family tradition since then, and My hope and wish for you is that there will be as much, if not more for you, when you reach Year70, Week 9, Day 6.
Tiffanie, Bill, you are amazing, and, though it may be hard to see right now, you are truly blessed.
Merry Christmas! and may your New Year be Happy.
    Love,

  4. Trevor decided to eat his way into Brendan’s fort? With his appetite, Brendan won’t have much fort left!

I thought those guitar pictures are awesome! Get them some nice long beards, and they could be ZZ Top! Or maybe they like Van Halen? And then they can have some famous brother dispute (all staged of course), break up and pursue great solo careers, then have a reunion album to make a ton of money and support their parents in the manner to which you could become accustomed?

  5. Merry Belated Christmas! The boys are getting so big! Love all the mischief…all part of being siblings and driving your parents to the world of gray hair. Just so you know, in case Heather didn’t fill you in, the days of calm, relaxing Christmases are over! I don’t think they come back until we are grandparents and go visit our kids for the holidays. Hahaha…enjoy all the chaos and insanity because time flies too quickly. Love to all of you!
