We had a full day today, but it was all good. We are both low on sleep but Brendan had a good night. He slept almost 12 hours total (with frequent restless movements, needing help turning, needing to be patted). But he slept!
I had a chance to do some non-baby things today while Bill took care of both boys. I didn’t do a good job detaching from everything and made a mess of some projects because I was trying to work too quickly, but it was still a nice break. The boys liked Daddy time.
They played with the ball popper for a while.
They watched Yo Gabba Gabba, although I think Trevor was secretly planning his next naughty adventure.

This video is actually from yesterday but it is too cute to leave out. It is all shaky because I am trying to wave at him to get him to wave. He is very enthusiastic about waving to Trevor when he gets up in the morning!
Brendan shocked us all yet again today! We have noticed for a while now that he will occasionally make a sucking motion in his sleep. We have attempted to slip him a pacifier before but he usually wakes with a start and smacks it away.
Tonight he accepted it!
Not only that, but he sucked on it!!! This is a huge deal, it means that his natural reflex is not totally gone.
When he woke up, he was pretty angry about it. Another attempt later was pretty much same old Brendan, he swatted it away, annoyed. Still, we are very proud of him. Withdrawal persists, but in short spells.
Wow!!! Where to begin? So many wonderful accomplishments! 🙂 🙂
Trevor walking better is good news, but no one ever doubted he would be taking off soon and doing it like a pro. He is such a cutie!
Brendan!!!!! Waving is absolutely adorable, and I had to watch it many times. You look soooo much better! I am so proud of you!
I have to say that the last video brought happy tears to my eyes. Brendan LOVED his pacifier when he was little in the hospital, and the with the trach, he wouldn’t/couldn’t use it, and it was so sad. Then there was the worry about him ever being able to drink a bottle, so no hope to get rid of the feeding tube, but look at him go on that sucking!!! What a very good day! And, how cute it is to watch the video. It is so obvious how quickly he is making progress. What a week! First the worst withdrawal, then eating green beans, then waving “hi”, then sucking on a pacifier!!! He is certainly playing “catch up” and it is a joy to see. Go Brendan! YAY!!

Look at Trevor walking, that is so cute and Brendans waving and sucking on the pacifier is great, he is so proud of himself, as he should be. Update Eric is finally feeling beter today, Beth started with it this mornig, l ended up in the ER for dehydration and while there they found I have diabetes, now having problem getting my level dowm, will keep you updated on what is going on at the Anderson Clinic.
It’s almost like withdrawing from this last drug is sort of “rebooting” Brendan on many levels. I am glad that some good is coming out of what he has been going through these last few days! Trevor – next up….running!
