Year 2 – Week 21 – Day 3

What a headache I have at the end of the day today! The boys and I were alone from dawn ’til dusk today and they really put me through the ringer.

This morning was awesome. We started out with a treat that we had picked up yesterday. It was really hard to find plastic eggs that didn’t squash or crack or fall open if you just looked at them wrong. They are so cheap and flimsy! Once we found sturdy eggs and buckets, we were ready to go!

They love when there is something new!

Brendan stirred his up and made a lot of noise

Bye, eggs

Trevor enjoyed the bucket

Monkey see – Monkey do

Trevor liked stacking the eggs back in the tube they came in.

We had a ton of cute pictures already and it wasn’t even 9am! Getting cute pictures everyday is easy, picking which few to use for the blog is the hard part!

In honor of cousin Kayla’s 12th birthday today, I tried to get Brendan to say “Happy Birthday, Kayla!”. He did in his own way! He is starting to like to figure out how to make sounds. He was doing such cute noises until I got my phone out to take a video and then he just wanted to attack it instead of talk.

Trevor went down for his nap well today and slept just over an hour. Brendan went crazy and played like a silly while Trevor napped and just as I finally got Brendan down to sleep, Trevor woke up. The day all went downhill from there!

Trevor and I played in my room and watched Brendan on camera so he could sleep. I chased Trevor all around, but Brendan only slept about 40 minutes. He woke up crabby!! Trevor saw that Brendan wanted my attention so then he got crabby too. Then it turned in to a 2-baby crying frenzy for most of the afternoon as they jockeyed for my full attention. Getting the babies through dinner and baths was insane. I took Brendan in to the bathroom to watch Trevor take a bath in the big tub and that was a bad idea. He was terrified and didn’t know where he was. In trying to move him, I ended up dumping a whole bag of stinky formula on the play rug. Then Trevor immediately grabbed the nearest stuffed animals and started playing in the big wet area.
While Brendan was getting his bath, I occupied Trevor with Yo Gabba Gabba. I thought he was sitting quietly in the corner watching the show. Then I noticed he had pulled his diaper off again. No big deal, I had to finish trach ties. When I went to get him, I found that he had made a big poop, taken the diaper off and smeared poop all over the floor.
With the way everything was going, it could have been a hilarious slapstick comedy with me as the butt of the joke. Trevor getting caught up in Brendan’s wires and tubes and yanking the food line out of the pump so that the bag busted, getting more formula everywhere, Brendan peeing on the rug in Trevor’s room while I tried to change his diaper, not one minute of rest for me!
Now that the boys are asleep, I am going to go shower and try to wash away the stress!

  1. I always feel so bad for you when you’ve had such a stressful day. I so wish there was some way I could help, but it is impossible from here. I can only hope tomorrow will be a better day, and you will get some rest tonight.
Brendan wishing Kayla a “Happy Birthday” was really nice, he tried so hard.
The boys playing with their buckets of eggs were very cute pictures. The two of them are a lot to deal with by yourself. You keep them busy and entertained, and so well cared for all the time. It’s no wonder you are exhausted!
As you often say, one day at a time…
Wishing you a peaceful night, and an easier day.
Sending you all the love and support that I wish I could give you in person,
    Mom

  2. It’s so good to be able to see the boys again and watch them having so much fun, I’m sorry you had such a bad day but there will be a day when it will be funny, I’m looking forward to being able to check in on a regular basis from now on.

    Love-
    G
