Year 2 – Week 29 – Day 6

The blog is late tonight because a certain Li’l B just did not want to go to bed! And when he finally did go to sleep, the dogs had to go and bark randomly and wake him up again. I just got him put down at 10PM.
Trevor is such an amazing bedtime baby because we worked very hard to get him in to a pattern that works. He goes to bed between 7-7:15, awake or asleep and doesn’t cry about it. He listens to his aquarium soother or his seahorse music and is asleep within 20 minutes. But it took a lot of time letting him be in his crib alone, even crying, to get him to that point. You can’t leave Brendan in his crib alone and expect to not have to tend to him within minutes. He either disconnects his vent, opens the port on his feed line so formula leaks everywhere, picks his pulse-ox probe so that the alarm goes off, he cries so much that he needs suctioning, or he just gets tangled up in wires and needs rescuing. Or lately, he stands in the crib and bangs the handles on the oxygen tanks. So we have a baby that is fiercely spoiled and gets rocked and cuddled when he is restless.

It was mega-busy today. Brendan had a great PT session this morning and was very active and cooperative. He practiced his “getting down” skills and also cruising and trying to pull up on flat walls. Then we had our appointment with the state. The good news is that our nursing hours do not get cut this time, they will be reviewed again in 90 days. Then we had to write Brendan’s new annual IFSP and set all his new goals for services, at the same time I made lunch for Trevor and got him down for a nap.

When Trevor woke up, he was on a mission to go out and get the mail!

“What do you mean, I missed the garbage truck!!?”

“Hi, Mommy!”

“Hi, Mommy!” (It is like he is checking to be sure I am still watching him run circles around the driveway!)

Mission successful

This afternoon, Brendan had his OT. He got to play with A very bright wavy parachute. He handled it really well!

It was like a circus tent

He also got to play in the tunnel with Trevor

Brendan has a new trick to show off today. By the end of the evening, he had mastered it, of course. There is also some other random cuteness in this video.

Fortunately, we have nothing on our schedule tomorrow. It will most likely be a Trevor outing morning and then taking it easy in the afternoon!

  1. Li’l B uses the Li’l T technique to get up on the couch! I love it! Trevor on a mission is also pretty cute. They are two very determined little boys. I would help to spoil them with bedtime snuggling and extra laps around the driveway. :).

  2. I always worry a little when the blog is so late because I think there must be something wrong, but the blog has lots of really good stuff in it, so I am relieved. 🙂
I am so happy to hear that your nursing hours will not be cut for the next 3 months. That is great news! How in the world will they replace Nurse Jen very soon? She has been a wonderful “addition” to your family.
Naughty (but extremely cute) Brendan to not want to go to bed! I wonder how that happened that he wants to be rocked and cuddled to go to sleep, and not want to be alone? 😉 He is so hard to not spoil! Aunt Shannon told me that you can’t spoil a baby until after they are 6 months old…however I think Li’l K must be precocious because he has his mommy and daddy wrapped around his little finger already! And Brendan has been given more than a whole extra year of spoiling! How can it be helped?? One look at those eyes begging to be picked up and who can resist? 🙂 You’ll miss it when he gets independent, and doesn’t want to rock to sleep! (just like cousin Caleb!) One thing is for certain, nothing stays the same, and the video is proof of that! Yay, Brendan!!! He has defeated the couch!
There’s lots of cute Trevor pictures outside, getting the mail…but how could he miss the garbage truck?? Did his 3 minute warning not go off this time? 🙂
Give the boys cuddling from me, they would be twice as spoiled if I was there!
Lots of love and very early morning hugs,
    Gramma xxxx

  3. Yaaaaayyyy Brendon!!! Great job climbing on the couch. Won’t be long and he’ll be helping Trevor get the mail.
