Year 2 – Week 39 – Day 4

We had a VERY full day today.

Brendan got to wear shorts again. He had to wear Gramma’s favorite jeans shorts so that he could go grocery shopping this morning.

Wouldn’t you know it, in the mile and a half it takes to get to the store, Brendan had to make a giant poop diaper. Back of the car diaper change time! It was only in the 90’s today, but it was 100% humid so it was miserable.

Both boys did a great job shopping.

Shortly after we got home, it started to rain again. It rained really hard last night with lots and lots of lightning and thunder. Both boys slept through it all, I was so glad! Trevor loves the rain!

Brendan was less than thrilled

We had a big plan for today, and Trevor was a super helper! He is good at taping.

Months ago when we had our french doors replaced, there was drywall repair that had to be done, which means the wall needed to be painted. I really liked the wall color it was, but it was a fancy multi-toned faux texture job and I didn’t have the paint to patch it. After a lot of searching, I finally found the right paint, and it was REALLY close to the old color. The color is called “Cup of Cocoa” and that is just what it looks like!

We did all the furniture moving, wall repair, taping, and prep while the boys were awake. I was going to paint while they slept. Someone had other plans!

“Naps are for babies”

My friend Virginia came over to help keep the boys out of trouble. Brendan didn’t trust her much, but he was OK with her reading to him without touching him.

It is hard to take a picture with the bright windows, but we are starting to get things put back together. We got 2 walls out of 3 painted. The third wall just has way too much stuff on it. (shelves, lamps, etc) The new color is so close, it doesn’t look bad. We can do that wall when Brendan moves out of the living room! At least the most annoying white wash over the door is gone!

We hope that Gramma and Grampa had a safe day of driving today and can enjoy their own beds tonight. That 10 days went by so fast!

I have had a little bit of a sore throat and sinus drainage these past few nights and today Trevor had a runny nose and a bit of congestion. I am not the least bit surprised with the extra exposure he has gotten lately. I just hope that it is mild and quick and that it stays away from Brendan and Bill.

  1. Good Morning from the Lake House!! Wow, that rain in your area was monsoon like!! Glad to see that you did not float away!! Soooo awesome seeing Brendan with shoes, shirts and cool shorts on. Seems like yesterday that any clothing was a bit too much for him! Next blog, bet he will be walking!!?? Go Brendan! And Trevor, each day you mature before our eyes! What a handsome little man!! The picture of the boys with Bill at the museum, should win a photo contest!! Just love it!! Stay dry, stay cool and hope you can catch a little extra sleep!! Prayers, hugs and love!! 🙂

  2. It is cool seeing Brendan and Trevor co-piloting the truck at the grocery store. Brendan looked like he was having fun. This post makes me think of how far Brendan really has come! He is OK being at the store when he used to be afraid to go into a different room of the house. He let your friend read to him, when he used to not want anyone else near him at all. He can wear his cute little shorts when he used to be against clothes of any kind. I know these are probably not milestones that his doctors look for, but they are just as important. And they come from you two (with help from Trevor!) having the persistence and strength to help Brendan overcome his fears. Hope you feel better soon – we’ll keep our fingers crossed for the B’s!

  3. Brendan looks so cute wearing clothes! It’s so nice to see him going to the grocery store and other places. He rocks the little jeans shorts! 🙂
The walls are looking good! I don’t know how you have the energy to do all that work!
It’s cute the way Trevor is always “helping” you do everything. He’s quite a little boy, and less and less a baby all the time!
We made it home from Florida loaded with all of Great-Grandma’s things from the condo. Today we will open all of the boxes for her, and it will be like Christmas-in-July!
Thanks to Kayla, Ashley, Aunt Heather, and Uncle Kevin for taking such good care of Gizmo. He had a good time, I’m sure!
It’s nice to be home where I’ll be able to see the blog whenever I would like to. I don’t like feeling unconnected.
I hope everyone gets well and stays well, and no one else picks up any more bugs.
Lots of love and many hugs and kisses,
    Gramma
