Year 3 – Week 5 – Day 6

We did our Thanksgiving turkey dinner today in the hopes that tomorrow could be restful. The food was really good, but the day and especially the dinner were very trying. Some days just feel like every moment is a battle. Every minute, a toddler is either breaking something, making an epic mess, teetering on the edge of danger, banging his head on the floor in frustration (which is now Brendan’s thing), or just plain having an all out meltdown.
I barely remember eating, but I managed to eat way too much anyway!

Earlier in the day, Trevor “helped” in the kitchen.
“Let me tell you how all this ground beef got in the truck”

Washing dishes means I had to mop the floor too

Two boys, two drumsticks! Should be perfect, right?

Trevor just wanted eggnog for dinner

Brendan licked a fork with gravy on it.

Then he hid the food from his tray under the table cloth

I tried to get a picture of Brendan modelling his hat

I feel this way too

I am grateful for my family, even on days that they push me to my limits. Even though it was utter chaos, I am glad that we were able to sit at the table together and have a traditional meal.

We are sorry that Gramma is still so sick, and we hope things start to turn around soon. Feel better!

  1. So sorry to hear it was a difficult day, but glad to hear you had a nice dinner. The pictures are all adorable. I love your little dishwasher! And Brendan modeling his hat is as cute as it can be!
Because of my being sick, especially with what it is, our Thanksgiving will not be the same tomorrow. We will still have our turkey dinner, but we won’t have all of our usual company. We will be sending out dinners to those who cannot attend, and there will be no hugging or kissing from Gramma this year. 🙁 Still, I will be thankful for the blessings I have, and well try to make the best of our day.
    Lots of love and hugs,
    Gramma xxxx

  2. Thanksgiving Day !
The list of things to be thankful for is long……I’ll try to keep it as short as possible.
    At the top of the list;
    * Heather and Kevin, Tiffanie and Bill, Shannon and Jon, Erin and Jules.
Kayla, Ashley, Caleb, Brendan, Trevor, and Kieran.
*The years I had with Gramma, that made the “top of the list” possible.
*A Seventieth Birthday, and I can still remember my own name, and still
have the ability to function “somewhat normally”. 😉
There are some things that have become a bit more difficult to get done.
    Thanksgiving Day !
I have been on the Atlantic in all the forms of weather that can happen there.
I have some small idea what it must have been like.
It must have been a truly terrifying trip for those who first came to settle this great land we now call “home”. As they took the time to gather, and offer their thanks for all they had, We, on this day, do the same.
