Year 3 – Week 15 – Day 1

Trevor had a very off day today. He was just frustrated and quick tempered and LOUD. It made the doctor’s appointment this morning quite a task.
Neither boy wanted to cooperate.

The meeting with the doctor was so frustrating and embarrassing. The boys were so loud, raucous, getting in to everything, touching what they shouldn’t, crawling on the floor, screaming if I put them in the stroller.. out of control. I simply couldn’t have a conversation with the doctor. I could barely hear myself talking.

In the end, it comes down to “no changes” for Brendan for now. His pulmonologist is happy with his progress and wants to keep going on the ventilator at night to help him get good rest.
He might be able to get off the vent after we see her next time in May.
I was glad to be heading home, my head pounding.

After lunch and naps, I tried to get them to play with shaved ice.

It entertained for a couple of minutes and then everything started to fall apart.

I tried to divide up trucks so that they each had the same kinds.
Brendan was having a total conniption because he wanted the green truck that Trevor had. Trevor would scream if I tried to give it to Brendan.

Trevor was finally distracted by something else, Brendan won.
315b02

He gave Trevor all of the rest of his trucks, he only wanted the green one.

After work, Bill took Trevor to the park to try to help him run off some steam.

Brendan and I got some nice one on one time in the kitchen. He made baggie banana muffins. We peeled some really brown bananas and Brendan got to help mash them. Stomp stomp!
315b03

Time to add eggs
315b04

All the ingredients are in, time to shake, smoosh, and mix!
315b05

“I am your little Bren-muffin!”
315b06

Brendan was actually a great helper. To finish the muffins, we cut a little corner off the bag and squeezed the batter in to the cups.
315b07

Trevor gets to try one
315t02

Yum face!

They turned out really well, but very sweet. The recipe suggested glazing, but they definitely did not need it, the glaze was too much.
We got to see Beth and Glenna again tonight for a short visit. I am glad they were able to come by again. I hope they all have a safe flight home to their igloos!

  1. What a difficult day it must have been for all of you. 🙁 It’s good that the pulmonologist was happy with Brendan’s progress. I hope he was just feeling anxious about the trip to the doctor, and he’s fine now. He looked like he had fun making muffins…unusual technique, but fun just the same! 🙂
It’s not as though there are not enough trucks at your house! Isn’t it funny that kids always want the same one?
I hope everyone gets some rest tonight. No nurse night is always harder for you. Maybe the boys are worn out enough to sleep.
Lots of love and hugs from the cold and very snowy Midwest,
    Gramma xxxx

  2. Well, I woke up this morning,
    Snow was on my mind,
And, snow was on my mind,
    We got inches, whoa whoa,
We got snow drifts, whoa whoa
    We got roads to plow.
    😉 😉 🙂 🙂 🙂
I think we could use a couple of high energy boys, with Their front end loader/trucks, to burn off some of that energy, and clear away some of this snow !!
    Deep, man, 😮 , and there’s more on the way 😮 😮
Hope May brings an end to the ventilator, one more step closer to
    ” wireless”. 🙂
