Year 3 – Week 31 – Day 7

This is always an exciting day every year. It is the 3rd birthday of my very awesome nephew, Caleb. Happy Birthday to you, Caleb!! It is also the 2yr anniversary of Brendan’s homecoming following his very long and frightening stay in the hospital. I also was super excited because the lens I that ordered yesterday afternoon was delivered this morning!!

There were definitely ups and downs today. Trevor is still having trouble sleeping through the night. To be fair, his little nose still isn’t cleared up. He woke up at 4am, then at 5:15am and then decided at 6:30am that he was not going to go back to bed. He had a very cranky morning.

Brendan is back to needing oxygen today. He is a little wet and needing more suctioning again. The wireless days are so nice, it is hard going back to wires!
I thought he might like olives on a stick to lick.

He was interested in stacking them on the stick

But then… “Hey, Eins? Interested in some olives?”

Trevor doesn’t like them either, good thing Bill and I do!

Brendan is always full of surprises. Tonight he tore into a buttery waffle!

The most frustrating thing about today was regarding Brendan’s new button. We thought it should be here by now, so Bill called both the GI doctor and the supply company. Apparently there was a miscommunication and it wasn’t shipped. The supply company promised to hand deliver one this afternoon, which they did.
I was getting all ready to prep Brendan for a button change when we opened the package. They sent the old brand/style that we are currently using!! What a waste of a delivery! Now we have to call tomorrow and figure out what is going on and try to get the right button. This should have been resolved by now! This is simply the story of Brendan…

To end on a happy note, at bedtime I warmed up Trevor’s milk which I don’t usually do any more. I made it a little hot. When it was safe to drink, I gave it to him and he took a sip. He looked up with surprise and said, “Mmmmm! This is COFFEE!!”

  1. Happy 2 year anniversary of your homecoming, Brendan! I remember that day very well, and I can’t believe it’s 2 years already! You have changed from a fragile baby into an amazing and strong little boy.
Poor Trevor. I hope you feel better soon and are able to get better rest at night.
How frustrating with Brendan’s button. I hope they get the right one tomorrow.
Happy Birthday, Caleb! 3 years old!!
Lots of love and big hugs to all,

  2. 2 Years…..In some ways that feels ” not long enough ago”, in some ways it feels like far more. So, the day started off with a “buttery waffle!” Well Done Brendan !!!
Trevor has had his ” coffee”, and it’s bed time 😉
Hoping that by the time you see this, the “right button” is there and in use.

Time has come to load the trailer with the modules, and the car with all the rest of the stuff, and set off to the annual Kenosha Train Show.
Setup is today, after 2:00 PM, the Show is tomorrow and Sunday, then it all comes back home.

Tomorrow is also Caleb’s Party, hope the weather holds and it is a beautiful day for Caleb’s 3rd birthday celebration party/picnic. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Hope I can get the trailer back up against the garage wall again. 😮 😉

  3. Good evening from the Lake house!! Happy birthday to Caleb!!!! And happy homecoming to Brendan!! What a difference time makes!! He certainly is his “own man’ now! Cannot believe that they have messed up his button order! Hoping that Trevor feels better real soon!! And all of you enjoy some uninterrupted sleep!! Prayers, hugs and love!! 🙂
