Year 3 – Week 37 – Day 1

It wasn’t much like a holiday in our house, other than it being nice for Bill to have the day off of work. He had a big list of projects to do, so it didn’t seem different to me and the boys. We did a ton of laundry and tried to clean up the clutter that accumulates.

Bill took Trevor to run some errands after Trevor skipped his nap. They went to the insanely busy mall, hit Sears for tools and the Lego store for fun. Trevor was worn out so I thought he would go to bed easily tonight.

Brendan had a couple of big tantrums and ended up pulling his trach out twice. We try to not make a huge deal about it, otherwise it encourages him to do it again. The first time today, I decided to take his picture.
At first he was concerned.

Then he gets curious.

Then he realizes that he can cover the hole in his neck with his finger and talk.

We try to keep things fun for everyone, somedays we have big laughs but can’t wait for the day to be over.

  1. Our Fourth of July was very uneventful, too. We just had Great-Grandma over for a simple dinner…no barbecue today!
I thought you were going camping this weekend, I must have misunderstood. 🙂
Wow, I didn’t know you could leave Brendan’s trach out long enough to take a picture and let him touch the opening. What happens if he won’t leave it alone? You really had your hands full today!
I’ll bet the boys would play the treadmill game for quite a long time! It looked like they loved it. 🙂 You and Bill always find new ways to entertain them and bring some fun and laughs to every day.
    Lots of love and hugs,

  2. Stinker pot, Brendan, succeeded, he did he did. He had that attempt first thing this morning, too. Silly boy. Wow, I’m sure it isn’t easy trying to weigh the urgency of maintaining a patent and secure airway while tempering the drama and attitude so as to avoid teaching him that pulling out his trach equals “getting his way” or some other favorable outcome.

  3. 😮 🙂 in the first picture…..it’s Brendan “Trevor”, (( no question they are brothers ))
🙂 🙂 in the second picture…..it’s Brendan “Curious”,
😉 😮 😮 in the third? Oh yeah, THAT, IS, Brendan “Trouble” 🙂 🙂
Trevor is really good at the “Countdown”, and there were giggles plenty as everything “crashed” of the end of the treadmill.

    • Almost forgot, We weren’t that close to the Chicago “city fireworks”, we could see them but we could also see a whole lot more all around us. It turned out to be a spectacular evening, and I didn’t even have to drive! (( good thing 😉 alcohol was present ))
