Year 3 – Week 41 – Day 5

Spaghetti night! Brendan couldn’t wait until I finished eating because he likes to play with the sauce with the fork.341b09

The sleeptime challenges continue with Trevor. He was a terror this morning because he is overtired. I am having a hard time finding ways to help him relax and fall asleep. Once he does, he usually can sleep through the night.

Despite being obviously exhausted, he refused to nap. Then he gets literally punchy and wants to smack and hit everything and everyone in frustration, one of his biggest signs of mega-fatigue.

Tonight’s bedtime should have been easy, but he fought and fought. He told me the ceiling was going to fall on him. (We were recently in a grocery store where part of the ceiling collapsed under heavy rain) He told me that he peed the bed and I needed to change the sheets. (They were clean and dry!) Then he said Brendan barfed on his bed. (not!) He says he needs the light on because his hands are too dark. He finally slapped me one time too many and I walked out. He turned on his lamp and fell asleep like this.341t20

Of course I went in and put him in bed properly.  He will probably really enjoy sleeping in the trailer for the next two weeks where he will share a bed with either me or Bill. Sleep training when we get home will be fun!

2 days until departure!

  1. Poor Trevor! Does Dr. Curran have any ideas about his issues going to sleep? He must be tired to fall asleep on his dresser!
Brendan is getting so much better about tasting things. Maybe when his trach is gone, he’ll really be ready to eat real food. Progress! 🙂
Great-Grandma had a very bad day. They are finally treating her UTI after a week of complaining, and 5 days after a culture. It’s frustrating to say the least. Today we add some reinforcements to her care. Maybe that will help manage her pain, anxiety, and meds. Then, she can get back to concentrating in PT.
I can’t wait to see you all. I hope your trip will go well, and can be some fun along with all of the work. It will be quite an adventure for sure!
Lots of love and big hugs,

  2. Poor Trevor! He is right at that age (and he is so intelligent) that his overactive, creative brain comes up with all kinds of fears. Maybe you need some “Monster/Problem Spray”, some kind of nice smelling water mist to “detox” his room, or some special new guardians to keep guard around the room. Maybe one of those “Dream Lights” animals with the creepy commercial? =) Both my girls have gone through periods like this, even now. Trevor is growing fast! Yay Brendan to eat spaghetti sauce! That was one of Kayla’s favorite foods when she was his age.
