Year 3 – Week 42 – Day 2

We got a small taste of the, “Oh man, what were we thinking!?” today. It was a LONG day in the car but we covered about 680 miles.

The boys slept pretty well in the trailer, and we were on the road at 7:30am. We lost yet another hour to time zone/DST and so the day was shorter. We didn’t stop for the day until just after 9:00PM. The issue with this is the hustle to get setup and get the boys cleaned and ready for bed. The seat time has been long and they have not had as much time as we would like for them to run and play.

Overall the boys have been amazingly patient and well behaved. The meltdowns tonight at bedtime were epic, but they were beyond tired.

They each took a short nap in the car at different times. Trevor fell asleep first:

Brendan had to wear his headphones so as not to wake Trevor.

Oops, he has seen this movie too many times.

We are staying with friends tonight in Missouri and then spending the day with them tomorrow. It is a beautiful place for the boys to run and play hard all day before the last leg of the driving adventure.

  1. Looks like DJ Jazzy B is workin’ dsome sweet digital turntable magic. All you need are glow sticks and a disco ball to get the pay rockin’.

  2. Good afternoon from the East Coast!! I think you have amazing children!! After a 7 hour drive from Hilton Head…I had an epic meltdown!! LOL How exciting that you are making progress toward your first union with all the cousins!! Think I am more excited for all of you than anyone (almost!!). Gramma has to be losing sleep in anticipation!!! Enjoy your day with friends!! What a wonderful opportunity for all of you!! Prayed for you in church today…safe travels, hugs and love!! 🙂

  3. I’m losing sleep at night, but not because of anticipation, that’s the good thing that is happening, seeing everyone coming for “cousin-palooza”!! 🙂
Sadly, Great-Grandma is not doing well. She’s been fighting a UTI for going on 2 weeks. Then yesterday, after 3 really good days, her wrist/thumb/hand has somehow gotten hurt…waiting for x-rays. And at the same time, she’s having a chest x-ray because she’s developed a tight chest, is back on oxygen, and popped a fever and strange cough. I’m hoping it’s not pneumonia. 🙁 I’m so worried that it further changes all of our plans for our reunion.
It sounds like the boys have done an amazing job with the traveling. I hope you have enjoyed your day off, and I can’t wait to see you!! 🙂
    Lots of love and hugs,
    Gramma xxxxx

  4. I am glad to hear you guys made it to Missouri! That is a great feat all by itself!! Enjoy your visit with friends. I cannot wait to see them playing in all that greenery and hear how Brendan does in that “non-desert” air!! This trip is EPIC and one for the books! You and Bill rock!!
