Year 3 – Week 42 – Day 3

I have trouble coming up with the right words for days like today. I will start with the positive things.

Our good friends moved from the Denver area and bought a beautiful country home right on our trip’s path. It was like they planned it that way, the perfect stop for a break in the travels.

The boys were thrilled to be able to play hard and not spend time strapped in to a seat. They got to giggle wildly at the cutest puppies.342bt02

He decided to upgrade.342b06

They were going to play tug-o-war over who got the Jeep342bt03

The boys got a tour of the property in the back of the Jeep.342bt07

These geese were cared for like pets by the previous owners. They came with the property. They hang around and beg all the time.34206

The puppies keep them in check34207

Trevor watched Susan scare away a goose with a stick, so he waved it around and said, “You go away gooses”342t05

We ran around and caught fireflies and we launched some fireworks by the pond. The boys were exhausted. They have been staying up late and getting up early, I hope that they spend some time sleeping in the car tomorrow.

We are very concerned for Great-Grandma and hope that she gets some answers tomorrow and sees some improvement.

We also received some tragic news today about the passing of a family member and a very loyal blog follower, Glenna Kleinsmith. She was on our list of people to see while we were in Illinois. Our hearts are with all of her loved ones tonight, we are glad that we will be able to deliver some hugs in person.

  1. I am so sorry to hear about Glenna. I had the pleasure of having her to my home for dinner with Beth awhile back, as well as reading her delightful comments here on the blog. She was an extremely nice lady, and I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to her family.

It looks like you had a perfect spot for a stopover with good friends, who have a beautiful house and lovely property, complete with geese…and very cute puppies.
The boys seemed to have enjoyed their break from the very long ride they have had. There are some very cute pictures! 🙂
I can’t believe you’ll be in IL tomorrow! I hope the third leg of your journey will go as well as the other two. Safe trip! See you very soon!
    Lots of love and hugs,

  2. So sorry to hear the sad news. My heart goes out to all of Glenna’s friends and family. Trevor and Brendan smiles will bring comfort in a difficult time, I am sure. Safe travels on your last leg of the trip later today.

  3. Lovely home on beautiful land. So glad the boys had a day to stretch and fetch with ducks and doggies (so cute doggies). Quite an undertaking a long car trip but they will remember it always. A lot of work but a lot of fun…

  4. Good Morning from the East Coast! So sorry to hear of Glenna’s passing! Loved her comments on the blog and just know she will be sorely missed by her friends and loved ones! Our sympathy and love to one and all. May your journeys continue to be safe and uncomplicated!! Hugs, prayers and love!!! 🙂
