Year 4 – Week 2 – Day 7

I have a ton of stuff today. The summer sizzle is finally over and it is a huge relief. Getting outside is a powerful tool for managing these boys myself. This morning we scouted playgrounds. We played at two and did a drive-by on two more.

This was today’s favorite, the only thing it was lacking was shade.

This is one of my new favorite pictures of Brendan! He was peeking through the floor of the tornado slide.

We had the whole place to ourselves once the maintenance crew pulled away. They keep this place spotless, and the sand was even all raked and pretty

Trevor pointed at the big boulder and said, “That rock is from Arizona” πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

They loved the bouncy bridge and kept coming back to it.

The video quality on this is poor, but there is a lot to love in this video! Silly boys!

We picked up Brendan’s glasses today. I will apologize now to future Brendan. We had to pick function over fashion. These are called Miraflex glasses. They are super malleable, safe and durable. They are hard to break and were highly recommended by his eye doctor. The color and shape selection was scary.

Brendan wanted no part of them initially. I had to go next door and get him a Sprite at McD’s to distract him.

“This isn’t frozen coke!”

Bill tried to talk him in to wearing them.

He definitely seems to notice the difference in his vision when he has them on. His expressions are pretty funny. But he HATES the strap that will hold them in place. Without it, the glasses just slide off too easily. He would wear them for a few minutes at a time and then pull them off. It will just take some getting used to.

He is still my adorable silly Brendan

This will be a big adjustment for the whole family getting used to his new look and taking care of his glasses. We have a little adventure prepared for tomorrow!

  1. The playground video is so much fun to watch! There was so much going on with each boy, I didn’t know which one to be watching! πŸ™‚ I love Trevor hanging in the swing, and Brendan trying to copy him. All of the bridge-running is funny…I thought you were running it in fast motion! πŸ™‚
I think Brendan is very handsome in his glasses! πŸ™‚ They’re not bad-looking at all. It makes him look very academic! He’s a cutie no matter what he’s wearing.
I’m so glad you’ve had things to take pictures of and to write about. I needed a dose of silliness!
Love and hugs! I miss you all.

  2. Best Buds at the park! Brendan’s conquering the up-the-slide wall and subsequent sliding tumble = extra cuteness. And those glasses! Totes adorbs, Lil’ B!!!

  3. Now that things are settling down, I can finally relax and check on everyone. What a wonderfully pleasant surprise to see my favorite little red head in his new glasses!! He looks so studious with the glasses and his big boy shirt! I am totally in LOVE with the picture of him looking throough the floor of the tornado slide!! You are so amaing with that camera Tiffanie πŸ™‚

I would have loved to be a “fly on the wall” when Trevor said that was an Arizona rock. I miss all of his random, but super cute phrases! He appears to have had another growth episode. That kid is growing like a weed!!

Oh man, I must say I am SERIOSLY green with envy from all the sunshine on this post. It was a whopping 48degrees here yesterday. Reading about them brings happy tears to my eyes and warms my heart. I need all the warmth I can get these days lol. Tell the boys I said hello and I will be to see them as soon as possible!! XOXOXO

  4. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ My day is off to a perfectly GREAT start πŸ˜‰ – – – –
    I watched the playground video πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
Now, I’m ready to make that drive to Milwaukee, and get some trains running.

  5. Good morning from the East Coast!! Great posts…can’t wait to see the trains under the tree!!! Playground fun…tons of it!! All the children love “the bridge”…it was always a favorite at school!! Just love Brendan peeking through the mesh and Trevor on the swing…too cute, as is the video!! Brendan, your glasses just add more to your dapperness!! You seem to be off to a good start getting adjusted to them!! Thank you for this truly delightful post!! Prayers, hugs and love!! πŸ™‚

  6. I THINK BRENDAN LOOKS ADORABLE IN HIS GLASSES. I was given a patch to try to strengthen my lazy eye at 1 yr and my mom hated to see me stumble so I never wore it and lost the window available to improve the left eye. I am so impressed that you and Bill are both working so closely with him until he himself realizes the benefits of the glasses. You are awesome parents and he looks like a little PhD…

Trevor is a little dare devil and really enjoyed the park. Great pictures and I am keeping Brendan and Trevor in my prayers daily as they move into their third year.
