Year 4 – Week 6 – Day 5

I don’t know where to start, it feels like weeks since the last post. Last night was the first night since Thursday that I slept in my own bed, and I had a little boy propped up on me. I have two sick little guys still trying to get healthy. Brendan’s nurses each missed two days of work this week due to illness.
Trevor has been up every night this week wheezing and gasping and coughing. We’ve rocked outside on the patio and taken hot showers and slept very little.

Last night I thought things were greatly improved but this morning was the worst yet. We had a little competition all day between me and the two boys about who could have the highest fever. Brendan’s mild coughing turned into a very bad cough and lots of yellow phlegm. So we had a little visit to their doctor.
Trevor got a powerful steroid to help him get a good night of sleep with no swollen airways. Brendan got an antibiotic.

Now it is time to get better.

It is hard to keep them happy when it is just me with two very clingy overtired babies. Power tools and boxes helped.

Trevor might be finally willing to give potty training another shot. Even though he felt awful, he wanted to wear his race car underwear and he kept them dry!

There is a video of the delirious sillies from last night. We have to find ways to smile.

  1. I don’t know how the boys can have so much energy when they’re that sick! I can see how you have none!!
I’m sorry to hear that things got so much worse and you had to take a trip to see the doctor. I hope now that Brendan is on his antibiotic, he’ll improve quickly. Poor Trevor and his croupy cough! He must feel miserable. And all of you with fevers!
I hope you’ll all be well for your Hope Kids Holiday Party this weekend.
Great job, Trevor, wearing real underwear all day and staying dry! 🙂
Maybe Brendan will want to copy him!
Sending healing thoughts and wishes for all of the illness to leave your house. Lots of love and long distance hugs and kisses,

  2. Good morning from the East Coast!! Oh my, oh my!! We feel your exhaustion! Poor Trevor, in the video, his little voice is muffled…..sure missed his happy yells!! His meds should be kicking in already!!??? Hoping that Brendan responds really fast to his antibiotic! Your pediatrician must cringe when he sees your name on the appointment list!! He knows that you only show up for legitimate reasons! Sure hope that you have a night nurse for Brendan, that Trevor can sleep better and that you can gain some much needed rest!! Prayers, hugs and love!!!!! 🙂

  3. Sending ” Heal those boys” prayers, and hoping they get well SOON.
It is amazing that they can find some silliness, even when sick. Power tools and boxes 🙂 whatever works 😉 😉 🙂 🙂 🙂

  4. I am so sorry you have such rampant illness in your house! I hope that the medicines both boys are on will help you all heal and get the rest you need. Sending LOTS of healing and sleeping thoughts your way!
