This was a long and painful blur of a day. It started at 1:30 this morning when Trevor had a severe croup attack. We would have been in the ER if it wasn’t for some of the medical equipment we had in the house.
It was 65 degrees outside so that was not helpful. I had to drive him around in the car just to get him to stop panicking enough to assess the situation.
We made it through the night with him wearing Brendan’s mist collar. This mist right on his face is the only way he could breathe. I slept from about 6am-8:30am and then woke up with flu like symptoms. I feel as though I have a really high fever but my temp is normal. My whole body has been aching and tired and it hurts to cough and breathe deeply.
Brendan is still doing OK, he isn’t back to 100% but he is getting there.
We got him in to the doctor this morning for another dose of Dexamethasone. The NP thinks I should have gone to the ER, but I am glad we made it through the night. We don’t need the exposure to all of that, we have plenty of bugs in the house.

Oh no! Poor Trevor! And poor you, too! 🙁 You were here last year and we ended up at the pediatrician and then the ER with a croupy Trevor. I wonder how in the world he got a second round of it just when Brendan is getting better? You need a break! You should go to the doctor or the ER to get on something to get yourself better. I don’t know how you keep up and not get sick more yourself. I wish I could hop on a plane and come to help you, but I can’t be gone this coming week, there are so many reasons I need to be here, I am so sorry. 🙁
I hope Brendan doesn’t get round 2 of the bugs. I’m sending as much love and healing wishes as I can…where’s Aunt Letty’s Magic wand?? Better yet, where do I get one, too? I would be waving it towards you and your family.
Kayla and Ashley are with us tonight for Aunt Heather’s Birthday and staff party. I hope she had fun evening, we did. 🙂
Hang in there, get well, I hope you can rest, and Trevor will be better in the morning. It’s always on a no-nurse weekend, of course.

Oh my! What a terrible time you guys are having. It always figures that this time of year brings out the worst sick bugs. I think you guys were right to avoid the ER if you could. Hours spent in a germy place to scare a little boy when they would have done the same things you did anyway. You know your limits and would have taken him to the ER if your tricks at home didn’t work. I hope that everyone will mend soon, and that the grown-ups get/stay healthy and rested!
