Year 4 – Week 10 – Day 6

Happy New Year!

Yesterday should have been fun, we even had some little sparklers and simple fountains to light to celebrate. We had to skip it all. The day just turned into a crabby-boy chaos filled catastrophe of an evening. We tried to put the boys to bed early, but they were up even later than usual.

Brendan had a little fun outside raking leaves with Bill

Today, we drove the boys up a mere 65 miles away to the mountain area where we were on Sunday. The temperatures have been unusually low, and there has been snow in AZ down to pretty low elevations. Even some areas in town got some flurries. The mountains got lots!
Snow time!!
The boys got to try out their snow gear. It all worked great – totally dry on the inside when we were done!

Brendan was not thrilled with the snow. I was surprised that he actually liked getting all bundled up in the gear. He just didn’t like the snow.

This is what I love about AZ. If you love to play in snow, it doesn’t take long to get to it. But it isn’t ever piled up on my driveway!

The boys just have one more little message for their awesome little cousin that turned TWO today!

  1. That photo of cactus with snow on it was a bit of a mind bender. I can’t remember seeing that before ( or didn’t pay much attention to it if I did ).
I do think the boys had fun in the snow ( yeah even Brendan, in spite of the “faces” ). It just takes some “getting used to”, it’s not like it happens every day there. 😉 🙂
I used my AMC gift card to go see The Hobbit part 2, for the second time, last night. It’s only been 41 years since I last read the book. I am still surprised how much of that I remember.
2015 is off to a slow start, the first event on my calendar is a week from this Saturday, Ashley’s recital. Looking forward to that.

  2. Our New Year’s Eve was totally uneventful, I was getting ready to go to Pittsburgh on New Year’s Day, but I didn’t have crabby boys chaos!
I love the pictures of the boys in the snow! 🙂 Some of Trevor’s poses and looks are the so funny. The last picture before the video is hilarious! Brendan may like snow later. Trevor played in snow last year in IL.
The video is so cute!! I’m in Pittsburgh and watched it with Kieran, and Aunt Shannon and Uncle Jon. Kieran loved it! We all loved Trevor’s singing, Brendan’s growling and talking, and Trevor wanting to “go to Pennsylvania”!
We’re hoping Kieran feels better for his birthday party tomorrow. He’s fighting a respiratory bug that he picked up from all the kids at Christmas. He has 15 kids (all 5 and under coming), and over 20 adults! It’s for a “brunch”! Sadie is going to a babysitter!
Hoping that this new year will be much better for our family. I wish all good things for all of you…good health, good times, great accomplishments, much fun, lots of love, happiness, peaceful moments, (visits from Gramma), and the knowledge that so many people love you!
Lots and lots of love and “smothering” from Gramma xxxxxx

  3. Good morning from the East Coast!! Back in time to enjoy our actual first snow in NJ!! Cannot believe that you played in snow, in AZ, before we have??!!! Happy New Year!!! May this year be filled with more calm and less chaos…and mostly filled with love and good health!! The video for Kieran was priceless!!! Prayers, hugs and love!!! 🙂

  4. Snow! Poor B – he really is a desert kid. :). Thanks for the video – even while he was a pretty sick little guy, K loved it!
