Year 4 – Week 19 – Day 5

Brendan has done well so far off of the vent at night. He still needs a little oxygen while sleeping. The days with no nurse have gone well too. It is not any more or less busy or exhausting, it is just different.

Trevor is always keen to help build things. He loves to work in the garage.

Trevor woke up this morning crying and saying that he wanted to help me sew and that I did it without him. He must have been dreaming!
After lunch today, we got out the sewing machine and made this owl pillowcase. Trevor did the pedal and pushed the buttons and I guided the fabric.

Brendan was excited about the moon owl pillow and it immediately led to wrestling. Again.

We are doing the sleep study tonight. This machine is measuring numerous things, but primarily the study is about levels of CO2 in his exhale.

Brendan has this contraption on his trach. It might make sleeping difficult.

  1. Good morning from the very snowy East Coast!! Happy to hear that your days are going well without Brendan’s day nurse!! Trevor looks so grown up helping Dad in the garage!! And the pillow turned out sooo cute!! Loved the way the boys were playing with it!! Brendan’s smile is always a delight to see!! Good luck with Brendan’s studies!!! Prayers, hugs and love!! 🙂

  2. I hope last night’s sleep study went well and Brendan will keep moving forward in his journey to get rid of the trach.
That was a great pillow Trevor made for Brendan with his favorite owls on it! He seemed to love being dragged off of it, too. 🙂 That’s funny that Trevor would dream about sewing!
It’s so funny to see the boys in summer clothes when we are so cold and have so much snow snow. Last night it was so cold that we kept hearing our roof and rafters making crunching and cracking sounds!
    Lots of love,
    Gramma xoxo

  3. How cold was it?
It was so cold, the Mercury in the thermometer shrank to the size of a sub atomic particle. 😮 😮
But, not there! Those two boys keep things hot !! – – – “Wrestling” 🙂 🙂

I have a couple of days of “no-food / clear liquids only ( 3/10, 3/11), and then again 3/19, with no coffee the morning of the 20th. Various tests at the VA Hospital. I have to admit, they are being thorough. When this is done I will have a pretty solid understanding of where my health is. 😉 🙂
