Today we covered a little more area in Sequoia and made the 25 mile extra drive to tour Kings Canyon.
I thought we would have more time to do the “Big Trees Trail” again today, but the weather didn’t agree with me. So here is a picture I left out yesterday thinking I would get better ones today.
The tree in the background between Trevor and Bill is the General Sherman Tree. It is the largest living tree on the planet, measured in total wood volume of the trunk. (The tree is neither the tallest, widest nor oldest)

On this vacation, the boys have taught me that throwing rocks in to a body of water is the epitome of relaxation and fun.

There is a beautiful waterfall behind all these giant rocks, but you have to boulder hop to get there – not for toddlers!

Moro rock decided that it would hide today

It got foggier as the day went on, and the temperature dropped to the low 40’s!

We visited the General Grant tree, originally thought to be the largest until the trees were accurately measured. 🙂

Another kind of tunnel log – you could walk through the length of the fallen hollow tree. It was very crowded though.

We warmed up in the restaurant and hit the road. Down at “base camp” by the river, it was 70 degrees. We threw more rocks in the water and got some tired boys to bed!

The scenery sure is the greatest with all those big trees and Trevor and Brendan down below….Unbelievable. You and Bill are doing a great job of showing them “life and creation”. They get cuter every day
What beautiful scenery and heartwarming pictures! It’s hard to imagine the size of these majestic trees until you see Bill and the boys standing near them.
I love the pictures of Trevor hugging Brendan, and the one of them walking hand-in-hand. They make me smile, and make me want to hug all of the people I love! 🙂 Even with the fighting and teasing they sometimes do, there’s definitely a bond between them that shows what really matters in life.
I agree with Virginia, they get cuter every day. I am in awe of what they are experiencing on this vacation. Again, it’s so nice to be able to have this blog and get to share this experience with all of you.
Love and big hugs,
Gramma xoxoxo

Now, that brought back some “Pre-Jurassic” memories of when I was about the same age as Brendan and Trevor.
At the summer cottage, on Noyac Bay. The beach was all rounded stone, very little sand.
An endless supply of “projectiles” to launch into the water. The last time I drove East, I walked the beach at Noyac, and “cast a few stones” 😉 🙂 🙂
Good evening from the Lake House!! What a magnificent park!! Those trees are gentle giants and so beautiful!!:-) Brendan and Trevor must be having a wonderful time!! New sights, sounds and lots of room to explore!! Mom and Dad have to be enjoying this trip also!! Love all the pictures!!! It will be tough leaving such a majestic place…safe journey home!!! Sending love, hugs and prayers!! 🙂
