Year 4 – Week 29 – Day 2

Happy Mother’s Day!

Brendan is still not 100%, he is fighting this little cold. We still managed to have a successful trial of “the new bed”. It does not change much overnight, I still slept on the floor between the beds to take care of his equipment. What it did change is that we were able to put the boys to bed, turn on the monitor, and then we had a few hours of time where we could actually have the lights on in the living room. And speak.
They were up early this morning, but slept solid through the night.

We wanted to explore something a little unusual today. We try to avoid the crowds. We went to check out “Arizona Falls”.

It is a hydroelectric plant on the canal system that has been turned in to a work of art and a place to explore and get a bit of a history lesson.

The boys did NOT like it. Trevor was terrified by the roaring water sound. It was pretty loud. Brendan didn’t do bad with it until Trevor got upset and then Brendan cried too!

I had hoped to take some cool pictures, but they didn’t allow me a lot of time. I got a few snaps.

Quick selfie. Notice who is missing? Bill was taking work phone calls in the car.

We tried to visit the big playground nearby that is actually next to the middle school where Bill went. It was a neat playground, but the sun was just too brutal and hot.

We had hoped to catch a really early dinner and dessert somewhere, but Bill ended up working again until it was too late to beat the dinner rush. I ended up taking the boys to Dairy Queen because we had promised them a restaurant.
429t02

They don’t know better. We still had fun.
429bt07

Bill was able to join us for dessert.

Brendan has only a few days left to shake this cold so he can rock his sleep study. I hope it is a good week.

I thought about my Grandma a lot today. I wish I could have been with my Mom and sisters for the cookout in the rain. 😀 My boys were highly emotional, loud, uncooperative and crazy today and it was enormously frustrating, but I still had a good day.

  1. Good morning and Happy Day after, Mother’s Day, from the East Coast!! Arizona Falls, what an interesting place! I can relate to loud sounds causing angst. So sorry that the boys were saddened by the noise! 🙂 What a terrific photo of the boys sleeping in the same room!!! 🙂 Good luck to Brendan with his upcoming sleep study…he’s got this!! Sending hugs and love Tiffanie for your Mother’s Day…as Mom’s, we all have had Mother’s Days that we cross off our list, but hold dear the love of family!!! Blessed, being a Mom!! Prayers, hugs and love!! 🙂

  2. I wish you could have been here for Mother’s Day, too! Even though it was cold and rainy, we had a really good dinner, and Aunt Heather made a dessert that we used to have frequently that brought back a lot of memories from the familiar taste. Remember the lemon jello/pineapple juice/evaporated milk/cream cheese “cake” on a graham cracker crust? 🙂 It’s so light and fluffy, and is so good, even after a big meal! Thank you Aunt Heather!
Thank you for the flowers and phone call. I thought a lot about Great-Grandma yesterday, too. She loved the attention of Mother’s Day, and the good food and kids.
It was so good to hear how well the sleeping in the same room test went. I hope Brendan does well with his sleep study. Step one towards removing the trach! 🙂
Poor Trevor! He can be such a tough little guy, but he’s also very sensitive. Next time he visits “the falls”, he needs his earplugs! 🙂
You are an awesome mother! I am so proud of you and in awe of what you accomplish each and every day! I love you and your amazing family very much!
Lots of love and hugs and kisses,

  3. Ridin’ “bugs” at the playground, followed by Dairy Queen…..sounds like a good day. The look on Brendan’s face, in that last photo, confirms it. 🙂

Aunt Letty and Uncle Rich are married 47 years today.
