Year 4 – Week 42 – Day 1

Brendan is on the Bactrim.

That sweet face, with rapidly spreading and growing bumps. Poor thing.

It is upsetting and a bit frightening. Tonight’s bath featured a 1/4 cup of bleach added to the water. More nasal swabs and ointments and lots of bleaching are added to the routine.

This isn’t how we wanted to celebrate Bill’s birthday! We did make a nice filet mignon dinner and had birthday cake tonight. Happy Birthday to an amazing Daddy and wonderful husband. There is no way to express how much he is appreciated.

I told Trevor he could have one more bite of cake!

  1. Oh no!! Poor Brendan. I was hoping he would not get worse. I am very worried about why the MRSA keeps coming back. I’m so very sorry he has to go through this, and that it causes you and Bill to go through it with him and worry. I hope the antibiotics knock it out once and for all, and that Brendan’s digestive system can handle them. I wish there was something I could do. 🙁
I’m sorry Bill’s birthday wasn’t what it should have been. I’m glad you had a nice dinner.
Your family needs to catch a break.
I love you all very much. Healing hugs sent your way.

  2. Hi Bill and Tiffinie- sorry We missed your birthday, Bill. Sounds like you had a great dinner! Our hearts go out to all of you, and especially to dear little Brendan. Prayers for a complete recovery, soon!

  3. Good morning from the Lake House!! Good grief…just have no words that could ease the frustration and concern you all have for Brendan!! However, we are cursing and swearing and saying “this really sucks” for you!!!! OK, now that we too have vented…keep moving forward as you all have done and soon Brendan will be microbe free!!! Then on to the next step!! Love the picture of Trevor in the cake 🙂 Happy Birthday Bill!!! Lots of prayers, big hugs and lots of love!! 🙂

  4. Trevor’s first words upon waking up this morning: “Let’s go finish the cake!”
(The picture above is how much is left)

  5. MRSA is something I know nothing about. All I can do is “hurt” for you, and hope the bleach hastens the “bug’s” departure.
    Brendan, get well quickly.
Trevor, that’s a lot of cake to “finish”……though it looked like you had the right technique for the task. 😉 😉 o) 🙂
Tiffanie, Bill ….. prayers for continued strength to get through this.

  6. I am so sorry you are having to go through all this. I didn’t realize it but Bactrim is a really strong drug. For my inflamed mass I was given a weaker one that didn’t touch the problem then they put me on Bactrim and finally it subsided.

I added Brendan to the prayer chain at St. Matthews and will continue to keep him in my daily prayers. What a personality no matter how he feels he just keeps on truckin what a dear little boy.

  7. Ashley would love to come help Trevor finish the cake! She loves chocolate!
We’re so sorry Brendan had to go on Bactrim again. Hoping it will clear up the MRSA and not upset his poor tummy.
