Year 4 – Week 44 – Day 6

Our living room will never be the same!

Construction started on Wednesday and should finish up on Saturday. Trevor has mixed feelings about it. He thinks the construction is cool but he says “All that burning hot sunlight will come in!! Too bright!!!” (This from the kid that always wants the AC off in the car because he is freezing.)

The boys are checking out the work at the end of the day.

Drywall is all done, taping and mudding tomorrow and painting on Saturday.

Our installer laughed about rain in the forecast and said it would be a good leak test. He got his test! We had a downpour!

Trevor’s second day of preschool went well. He was nowhere near as excited to go today, but ran in and started playing right away. He didn’t want to talk about the day when I picked him up, he just gave me extra big hugs. The teacher said he had a great time.

Later, all I could get out of him was the following:

– “The teacher just says, ‘No, Trevor!’ ‘No, Trevor!’. You can’t do ANYTHING in school!!”
– “The teacher made play-dough. Blue and yellow and orange! But she wouldn’t let me mix it! I was trying to make a banana-blueberry birthday cake!”
– “Where did you go for SO LONG?”

He said he still had a super fun day but he was so tired. I think he is struggling with the structure, and does not like to be corrected when he wants to go do his own thing. He will start to get it!

  1. How blessed you are to have those two sweeties and they are to have you and Bill. They wake up each day with anticipation of what will be happening that they get to be a part of either helping or inspecting. So blessed to have these every day experiences.

Each time I read a post I marvel at what a great job you are doing with them both. Hope Trevor’s second day of school went well. Much Love Va

  2. Wow, what a difference there will be in your living room! You’ll have to get the blinds with a remote for them! 🙂
Trevor is so funny when it rains. He sure loves his mud and puddles!
I was wondering how he liked his second day of school. He says such funny things. He’ll get used to it being more structured than home. We all know that you can’t do ANYTHING at school! 😉
I keep waiting for the news from the doctors about Brendan. I hope you hear something soon.
    Lots of love and hugs,

    • The remote control blinds cost half again as much as the whole install job! It is crazy! We got white laminated glass to diffuse the light and prevent a good deal of heat and glare from coming in. Even with the living room wrapped in plastic, I love how bright it is.

  3. Good morning from the Lake House!! Just watching the weather channel (tracking the latest tropical storm) and AZ was featured with yesterday’s rains!! WOW!! The pictures of Trevor are terrific! He sure does enjoy the rain…Brendan in the window…too cute!! 🙂 Hoping soon that Brendan’s doctors will be getting back to you and that Trevor will have a blast at pre-school!! Am sure that he will!! Can’t wait to see your living room complete!! Sending love, hugs and prayers!! 🙂

  4. In the first couple of pictures, outside with Trevor, looked like you also got some hail with all that rain.
“Leak test” was a success ? Hope it stays that way, that should really brighten up your living room.
Ya think Trevor likes playing in the rain?

  5. Transitions are hard – it seems like for a lot of kids, day 3 is the real test (and usually the biggest meltdown), so I hope that went well! Is he there for a full day? We still have some tough drop-offs, but every single day at the end of the day, K is in a great mood (and half the time doesn’t want to leave school). He is getting ready to transition next week to the older toddler room, so I am sure we’ll have some rough transition days too. The structure is great though and having the chance to socialize with all the other kids too. Hopefully Trevor will be exhausted by the end of the day and sleep well for you!!
