Our weekend plans were derailed due to illness this week. We had our trailer all loaded and ready to leave first thing Saturday to spend the night in the desert celebrating the inaugural voyage of our friend’s new trailer rig. Friday night (Saturday early I guess, 2am), Trevor woke up in one of his really bad croup attacks. If it weren’t for Brendan’s mist collar machine and some steroid meds we had on hand, we probably would have had to go to the ER.
Partly because Bill was needed to help out with the setup of the new trailer, and partly because it was a good idea to keep a healthy Brendan away from a very sick brother, Bill and Brendan went on the trip without me and Trevor.
Gorgeous weather for playing in dirt
Brendan is going “hiking”. More like hike-riding.
Our trailer on the right, The Wootens’ new toy hauler on the left. And cuteness up front!
Brendan did not want a ride in their off road car, but he LOVED Jack’s helmet.
Josh and Jack. Jack is 6, he was the super-sized Trevor substitute for Brendan.
Seriously, the helmet is killing me. So silly!
The boys are all in camp, and Bill turns around and doesn’t see Brendan. He calls out and hears a little voice say, “I’m right here!”
“where?”
The rear axle makes a nice little seat in the shade.
One totally wiped out little adventurer. It must have been the “hike”
His message to us at home:
Trevor had a rough weekend, he just feels miserable and isn’t getting good sleep. This morning his temperature was 104.
We have been to the doctor this morning and he got a dose of Decadron and a full checkup. No ear or sinus infection, just a nasty virus. On Wednesday at school, his class of 12 kids had only 5 in attendance. It is going around.
So Brendan says to me today, “For my reward, I want the new Iron Man game.”
I say, “What reward?”
Brendan: “Because Trevor went to the doctor!”
Opportunist!
