Yesterday Bill had a day off of work so we made another quick day trip in to cooler weather. We went “Leaf-Peeping” looking for fall colors up north near Flagstaff. It was a little early for the richer red and orange trees to turn, but the aspens were bright.
We got tips from Brendan’s speech therapist about a nice trail to follow.
The boys discovered this giant lean-to style shelter. I have no idea who made it or how long it has been there!
I took a break and watched the trees. It is mesmerizing the way aspen leaves flutter in the wind.
Bill and the boys climbed up some giant rocks.
We initially went the wrong way, but the views were so awesome
Can you see Bill carrying both boys again?
This is where the trail opens up on to the giant meadow
Mean Mommy wouldn’t carry Brendan, I made him walk all the way downhill to the tiny lake.
Humphrey’s Peak from the meadow, plus can you spot Bill and Trevor?
Trevor’s favorite thing – throwing rocks in water
He walked all the way around the “lake”
Brendan eventually followed. There were better rocks on that side
As the sun went down, Brendan got cold. (It was around 60 degrees) He had to borrow Mommy’s coat
I scouted a pretty place for a portrait but I had seriously uncooperative boys. They were worn out and cold from hiking.
After a super busy weekend, we are trying to recuperate and enjoy Trevor’s week off of school.
