Year 7 – Week 25 – Day 3

I got to chaperone a school field trip today, taking all of the kindergarten classes to the Phoenix Children’s Museum. I had my hands full keeping track of my team of kids so I didn’t take a lot of pictures.

Some selfies on the bus ride!

The climbing tubes and tunnels outside the museum

The car wash

This strange rocket thing in the lunch room..

The kids’ most favorite part is this three story climbing structure of madness.

The bus ride going to the museum was boisterous and loud. The bus ride going back to school was unusually quiet…

Year 7 – Week 24 – Day 4

Bumblebee Ranch time!!

This is one of Brendan’s favorite HopeKids events of the year. This year, we mixed it up by going up to the ranch the night before and camping on the property in our trailer. The weather was perfect, the ranch was so quiet and the people are super nice. Trevor even wants to sleep in the bunkbed of the trailer now.

It is a really good thing that our family likes spiders. The whole place was a real life Arachnophobia set. These harmless but large cuties were all over the ground.

They were funnel-web spiders. Everywhere you looked, there were patches of shimmery spider webs with their funnels. You had to watch where you stepped.

Brendan is knocking on the spider’s door, ever so lightly teasing the web with a stick.

Sure enough, that little disturbance would make the spiders peek out. Brendan was thrilled.

We took a nice long spider visiting walk around the grounds.

They also have some nice climbing trees

We brought the bikes so the boys could ride around all morning.

We rode to the pond so that the boys could do some fishing early before the crowds showed up for the event.

This is the part that Brendan was so excited about – riding the horses.

Brendan waited in line extra so he could get his favorite horse from last time. The horse is named Olaf.

Trevor rode Wilbur.

Brendan is on his second ride already.

Now Brendan is riding Brownie

It was pretty hot in the afternoon, but Brendan would ride and ride and ride as long as we would take him. Trevor was disappointed that the zipline was not there this year. He was so eager to do that again. Maybe next time!

Year 7 – Week 23 – Day 5

Happy Easter! Before we checked out of the PV park, Bill took the boys on a stroll through “Cholla Forest”. The pictures were all too cute so I had to share them all.

We were on our way home from Tucson, so we had to stop and visit our favorite place south of home- Rooster Cogburn’s Ostrich Ranch! We got there right when they opened so it was still cool outside.

I think I have posted pictures from here enough times that I don’t have to put captions! But here we are – sending food up the conveyor to the “Penthouse”.

The herd was hungry

The sheep

Feeding the bunnies on Easter

Brendan got to meet the Easter Bunny and get some candy! Trevor was not interested AT ALL.

They were eager to see the Rainbow Lorikeets. Again, the pictures were all too cute to pick and choose, I had to just post them all. Can you tell the boys love this part?

Trevor really wishes that he had a pet parrot. But for now, the lorikeets will have to do!
