Spontaneous road trip day! We got a tip that the Little Colorado River was spiking in flow, which means that Grand Falls was probably running. This was the USGS graph at the peak. By the time we left, it had dropped to 20% of this max flow.
We were afraid of a heavy winter storm sweeping through northern AZ, but we made it with clear roads and sunshine. It was cold and WINDY!
“Are you done with pictures yet?”
I wish we could have seen that peak flow, but this was still amazing
Look at Trevor’s hair blowing!
Our spontaneous road trip buddies – Amber, Blake, and Blake
For scale, Amber and the Blakes are in the little overlook hut at the top of the falls.
There is Bill, Brendan and Trevor!
On the way home, we found that winter storm.
Here’s a 8x video from the dash cam driving through the snow. We made it through safely back to the sunny, warm, dry land at home.
