Year 3 – Week 18 – Day 6

I didn’t take a single picture today, just a video of post-bath antics.

I asked Trevor if he wanted to go to “The scissor store” with me (fabric store with giant pair of scissors over cutting table). He proceeded to tell me about the guy on the scissor lift that was changing out light bulbs the last time that we were there. I am impressed every day at how well Trevor is remembering things! On the way home, he asked me to go to IKEA because he wanted to ride the escalator. He also learned how to say “fire extinguisher” and does a really good job with pronunciation.

Brendan had PT today. His newest instructions have him doing some “step aerobics” to strengthen his hip flexors, quads and knees. He loves the step up and step down game, so it should be an easy assignment.

Brendan isn’t fully recovered yet, but he is doing better.

Year 3 – Week 18 – Day 5

Brendan had a much better day today. I am hoping we are at the end of this stomach bug. He still has to make it through his 10 days of antibiotic though, which might still aggravate his tummy.

I took Trevor to a huge book store this morning. While we did come home with a collection of vintage Golden Books and some other new stories, I think book stores are too much for me to handle. Trevor was trying to run from shelf to shelf and dump books on the ground by the armful.

He made it up to me by vacuuming the house. He is finally past his fear of the noise and turns the vacuum on!

Year 3 – Week 18 – Day 4

It was an odd Monday. Brendan had a better night with just one spell at about 2:30am. He was OK this morning, but there was something that was bothering me about him that made me nervous, but I couldn’t place it. He was needing a lot more oxygen than normal just while eating and after turning him up to 3L for his second feeding, I decided to take him to the pediatrician.
I am very glad I did because they confirmed what the GI office told me, there has been a huge outbreak in cases of a bad stomach virus. Brendan’s 12:50pm appointment was the doctor’s 5th case just today of the same problem. But while she was examining him, she also discovered he had an ear infection! Poor baby, there were not really any signs, I had no idea!
So he is on antibiotics again, which will do no favors to his poor sick tummy. We have a new probiotic supplement to try as well, to see if we can help him get over the bug and the medicine.

This morning early was playtime out front, you wouldn’t know he wasn’t feeling well.

It is funny that he will play in sand and scoop with shovels, but when he has to get up, he tries not to touch the sand with his fingers.

As I packed Brendan up to go to the doctor, Bill helped Trevor blow leaves and dirt.

It is as if the leaf blower summoned the mightier equipment. A street sweeper came by!

Brendan was not happy to see the doctor, but he was REALLY excited about being in the Curious George room. He would alternate between his crying face and pointing and smiling at the walls.

And he still got to drive around with his brother

I am not sure their driving is getting any better!

I hope now that Brendan has some medication, and we know that time will help rid his system of the stomach bug, maybe he can get well again very soon!
