Year 2 – Week 41 – Day 3

I would say that Brendan had a great night and slept through – but he only sort of did. At 3:30am he woke up and needed to be rocked and then refused to let Bill put him down. So they slept. At 6:00am, I came out to this:

Spoiled baby!!

They were good today, and super cute. I yelled at Trevor for dumping water all over the play area. On his own, he went and got one of Brendan’s burp cloths and started wiping up the water!

Brendan has a new trick

Post-afternoon nap lazy time

Brendan got a “walking bonk” mark on his forehead this morning. He is taking more risks and experimenting more with standing, reaching and crossing gaps. But he slipped and scraped his forehead on the whiteboard where the magnet letters go. It will be one of many bruises before he is walking!

I was unhappy with Trevor’s haircut on the sides right above his ears. My scissor cutting skills and his wiggling (and being in his high chair so I had awkward angles) all led to choppiness on the sides. I took a risk today and tried the clippers. Trevor was SO GOOD about letting me touch up his haircut with the clippers. I only had to bribe him several times with chocolate chips and put on his favorite part of “bumbo” (he’s getting closer to saying it right).
I let him check out the clippers when we were all done. (UNPLUGGED of course)

I am much happier with his summer buzz now (still not a Gramma-quality cut!). It is a nice close cut like his Daddy gets. He thought the beads needed a touch-up trim too

He knows he is pushing the right buttons, he is not sure why it won’t turn on. Then he saw me holding the cord end and asked me “please” to plug it in. (not a chance!)

He figured that Brendan needed a touch up too!

Brendan studies the tool for later reciprocation

We met a new nurse this morning and it went very well. That is one more stress behind us. Our current nurse worked for us this afternoon so that Bill could attend a graduation/off to college party. (Congrats and good luck, Cody!) The boys were so good all evening but it was great to have her for dinner, bath and bedtime help.
We all got some Chinese food and Trevor ate all my crab rangoon. He has great taste!

Both boys are sleeping soundly and I am getting ready to set up the cot for my turn with Brendan. He is still on 3L and could probably be turned down again, but we will wait until he is monitored all night by someone who is awake!

Year 2 – Week 41 – Day 2

I often lose track of what day of the week it is, sometimes it just doesn’t matter! Brendan stayed on 3L all day and is still getting better.

Trevor found himself a flashlight and has ideas

He decides to look under the couch for lost toys

He has to look in deep dark cupholders too

Trevor suffered a haircut at the hands of Mommy today. He has weird patches of hair that grow long very fast. I cut it all back pretty short so that it might grow in more evenly now.

The good thing about hair is that it grows back. He is too little to know if he has a bad haircut. I need the practice. And we can always get Gramma to fix it when she visits!!

Brendan had a lot to say about it. Brendan’s crying still makes Trevor cry

Brendan wore his PMV all day and did well with it

Trevor loves his Dumbo movie, and has to always point out the train part

We have no nurse tonight and Bill is going to sleep on the cot next to Brendan. We are interviewing a new nurse first thing in the morning because one of our day nurses is leaving for a new job in a few weeks. Hopefully things go well tomorrow and it will be a smooth transition!

Year 2 – Week 41 – Day 1

Here’s the final treat from our efforts yesterday, just classic chocolate chip cookies:

The boys were nice to each other today, they even shared my lap for a while!

Brendan spent the whole day on 3L of oxygen! He is making progress finally, and looking and sounding much better. He is still getting his breathing treatments, he even thinks he can do them himself!

He does his yoga with his favorite CD

They thought that they needed to do more cooking tonight after their bath

Brendan figured out he is finally tall enough to reach the light switch over his crib

We are hoping that cousin Kayla heals fast from her respiratory infection. It makes you feel so bad! Get better soon!
