Year 2 – Week 35 – Day 7

Today was a little hectic. Trevor was just antsy and itching to get out of baby jail so I took him to IKEA to try to get Bill a new desk chair for in the office. (Turns out the one we wanted was out of stock! grr!)

Because we were out late in the morning, I decided to have lunch with Trevor at the store. He doesn’t get to eat at restaurants really (or stores). He loved his swedish meatballs and french fries and he didn’t get a drop of ketchup on his shirt.

He was yearning to go over to the play area with two other little boys. But the big built in toy things just screamed dirty yucky germs and I couldn’t do it. I hate living in fear of illness, but after the last few months we have had, it just isn’t worth it. Poor Trevor.

Brendan was hanging out at home, putting some CD’s in his boom box. It has always been one of his favorite toys.

Brendan continues to explore the use of his tongue. He is silly.

He was happy to see Trevor home. They had some good play time today.

The boys took a really long bath together. Trevor was in first alone and then through Brendan’s whole bath. His fingers and toes got so wrinkled that he just kept staring at them and touching them like they were funny.
We had an amazing thing happen for Trevor tonight. During his bath, he started to make signs like he was about to poop. I whipped him out of the tub and on to his potty chair just in time. He made poops in his potty!!!
He was a little confused I think as I made a huge deal about poops and clapped and cheered. I don’t think there was any magical connection made with him, but he definitely was thinking about the whole process and looking at me trying to figure out what just happened. Every little bit helps.

Brendan had his new “therapy” again today. It was well beyond frustrating and I am just about fed up with all of it. What kind of team leader who is supposed to magically cover all of his areas of needs shows up at our home for the second time without having read his IFSP? She didn’t remember a thing about Brendan from the last visit, assumed lots of incorrect things about him, didn’t make a note about anything I told her, and didn’t have anything useful to contribute other than the same old crap we have been doing with him from the start. Our nurse today has worked with lots of therapists and was just blown away at how unprepared and unprofessional this one was. Apologies for the ranting, but I really want the best help for Brendan and this was a huge waste of time.

We continue to send our love and healing thoughts to Aunt Letty and Uncle Rich and family and hope for a quick release from the hospital.

Year 2 – Week 35 – Day 6

I woke up this morning thinking that we had a cardiology appointment today. I had mentally planned my day out around it. I got dressed and was going to start prepping for the drive when our nurse pointed out that it was written on the calendar for NEXT Tuesday. That was right, the appointment is for the 2nd. I am just glad I didn’t make it all the way to the hospital before I discovered my error!

Since Brendan had a day nurse, I had to get Trevor out of the house for a while before the 118+ degree heat hits us this week! We walked down the street to visit Maggie Moo and her friend Bandit and see the finished work on the pool.

It is hard to get Trevor to keep any sunglasses on, let alone silly ones

He was even trying to bite and lick them

Trevor likes exploring at someone else’s house. And he like Maggie Moo too

Bandit liked Trevor

It’s Tuesday!

Brendan was staying inside where it was cool

He wants Gramma to think he looks like Spiderman too

He spent the day hanging around and cruising the room

He has been licking things lately too

Daddy calls this “tank mode”

He was fascinated with the laundry basket tonight

Trevor took a three hour nap today, he must be trying to make up for yesterday. Getting out in the sun probably took it out of him too. This was the first day in a long time that felt like we are starting to get back to “normal” again. Almost there anyway.

Year 2 – Week 35 – Day 5

Getting right to the cuteness today…

Brendan has to start working on eating again. He found a cheezit to be entertaining

Even one bite of green beans was enough

Not having it today, no way

Trevor will gladly finish the beans, the quickest way – slurp!

Brendan eats a ladybug instead

“Don’t worry, Ladybug. I won’t let them feed you green beans”

Mr. Naughty here would not nap AT ALL today and was quite the crab. He got his pajama shirt all wet which is why he is mix and match jammies boy

Trevor is going to fix Brendan

Brendan wants to climb in too. I love his Van Damme style high kick approach.

This picture is full of so much attitude, I love it! Brendan wants his turn!!

Trevor made his first genuine escape from baby jail today. Like a ninja, smooth and silent, he slipped over the back of the couch and was down the hallway before anyone noticed a thing was amiss!
Brendan wore his PMV for the majority of the day and talked and talked and talked. I am sure what he was trying to say was Happy Birthday Grampa Dusty! We all hope today wasn’t too brutal!
