Year 2 – Week 19 – Day 5

After Trevor woke up at 5:30 this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep, I knew I was in trouble for the day. Brendan had a very restless night too and did not sleep well all night.

In the morning light, we discovered Brendan’s problem. Further evidence that crabby clothes yields crabby babies!!

Trevor had to have a mini-tub bath again today.

We tried to have a nice lunch together

Brendan says, “I am supposed to be practicing my sitting-up, but I think I will just lounge”

Now that Brendan is getting stronger, he is also getting a LOT more assertive. He also is getting better at throwing super tantrums when he doesn’t get his way.

Trevor is supposed to be packing a box of stuff to mail to his cousin. Instead, it turned in to a giant game of “Undo”

If you ever wonder why I am exhausted at the end of the day…

It wasn’t a terrible day considering the nap fails. I figured they would take long naps after bad nights. Trevor slept about 45 minutes and Brendan about an hour. Brendan had an epic meltdown when I tried to do his bath and trach care tonight, I believe he was just exhausted. He has been asleep ever since. He had a couple of bad spells of vomiting up bile today, I don’t know what that means right now.

We hope all of our friends and family to the east stay safe and warm in the blizzards, enjoy the snow day! We are greatly concerned for Grandpa Dusty who has just been admitted to the hospital with great pain, fever and an unknown infection. We wish him speedy relief and recovery.

Year 2 – Week 19 – Day 4

Where did the weekend go? I had made a list of things to accomplish and I didn’t finish a single one. Brendan was the hero of the weekend though, and I am so happy that he has accomplished so much.

Little Superman did not feel like doing much today. I think I wore him out yesterday and he just wanted to play.

He will use his Superman strength to pull off his mist collar.

This video isn’t exactly what we were going for, but he is showing off his pivoting and scooting.

Brendan amazed me with his ability to use the iPad. He is playing “Endless Alphabet” (Thanks Joelle for turning us on to that one!). The goal is to drag the letters to their place in the word. He isn’t at that level yet, but he sure likes touching and dragging the letters and their responses. Great silly app! The second one is a stacking game and he startled me with how well he learned how to do it!

Trevor had to go grocery shopping with me this morning, then bath, then lunch, then nap. When he woke up, we had put up a new board to hold the magnetic alphabet game.

He went straight to tippy-tip toes to try to bite the pen holder off the top of the board.

He got a new truck at the store and ran it up and down the room

New day, new way to sit in chair.

Fire engine baby, fire blanket

We are waiting for fire blanket pictures of cousin Kieran!

Brendan chomping on drawers. He played quietly in the toybox most of the afternoon and had a great day!

We all send big warm sunshiny hugs to Grampa Dusty and hopes that he feels better soon.

Year 2 – Week 19 – Day 3 – Look out world, here comes Brendan!

It was a huge day today, Trevor didn’t sleep very well and was up super early today so he was mighty crabby this morning.
Brendan played and just tried to ignore him.

He looks like he is just lounging around, but we made him work work work!!!

Trevor took a long nap today (3hrs and 15min!) so Brendan had extra extra work time and did some more amazing things. I am mad at myself because I was taking a ton of video but my memory card was filling up. I was trying to delete duds so I could keep filming and I accidentally deleted one of the best videos. And of course it was written over already by more videos.
Even so, I have some good footage. He will have to show off again tomorrow.

The lost footage shows him sitting up super well from laying on his right side (his stronger side) and making attempts at forward crawling!!

Trevor woke up from his long nap in a much better mood. “Crabby? Not me!!”

“I have been an angel all day”

Then I told him what Brendan was doing while he slept. I said Brendan will be faster than him soon.

Truly, Brendan is going to be real trouble once he is mobile. He is a VERY stubborn baby. He already is not safe in his easy chair without someone spotting him every second, he tried to vault over the arm today. Trevor says, “Good luck Brendan, I get faster and climb higher every day!”

Trevor finds new ways to sit in his chair, he is just watching Bill do yardwork.

Brendan gets to relax from all of his exercising and plays some “Giggle Gang”. He used to hate this app but now it is a favorite and he is getting good at pointing and dragging the characters.

I think Brendan is in a hurry to get moving or else his little cousin Kieran will crawl first! My camera battery died after all the video, or I would post a picture of Brendan now. After his bath, he had to put on his superman shirt. He earned it today!
