Year 5 – Week 5 – Day 1

Well, I have gone and done it now. I let the entire “Week 4” go by without a blog post. It has been a busy one. It seems like I have been on the phone, at appointments, in the car, or just trying to figure things out every waking moment. I have lost track of what day of the week it was twice.

It was not all bad stuff though, I just haven’t taken many pictures. The boys received a Lego rental subscription service for their birthday from their Pittsburgh family members. They got their first set, The Avengers Tower. They did a good job keeping the pieces together so that it could be mailed back for the next set.

We had company coming over for dinner last week, including a boy only 8months younger than Brendan and Trevor. We rolled out the (blue) carpet and set up a mega city with Geotrax to welcome our new playmate.

Friday, we took their new friend to the zoo. Trevor finally has someone that will ride the carousel with him since Brendan won’t.

We had to pet stingrays.

Trevor loves this so much, he would dangle on that wall all day.

It is good for the boys to have a friend come over to the house. We will probably be seeing a lot more of him!

Year 5 – Week 3 – Day 5 – Part 2

Two blogs in one day? Be sure to keep scrolling if you missed the one this morning.

Tonight we had an interesting little event to attend. The local Chick-Fil-A was hosting a “Mother-Son Date Night” event and I just happened to be online when it was posted on Facebook last month and I registered for the free tickets. Spots filled up in less than an hour!

There was a shiny cement truck out front for the kids to explore.

The restaurant was decorated in a construction theme. The kids were given goodie bags and hard hats and coloring pages. There were linen tablecloths and a “Construction Guy” waiter came and took our order and provided full service to the table.

The goodie bags had Legos!

Our waffle fries came on a fancy dinner plate, and there was a free appetizer of breakfast chicken-biscuit sandwiches.
503t13

The mascot cow came around and played with the kids and we had a nice little dinner. On the way out, we got another goodie bag with some free food cards and toys. We visited the truck again.

It was a fun night for me and the boys and it only cost me the price of the regular food. We had talked all week about going to the “Construction Party” so I asked Trevor what he thought. He says, “It was fun, but it wasn’t really a party.” I had to know what was the qualifier on that, he says, “There were no balloons!”

No balloons = not a party. Good to know!

Year 5 – Week 3 – Day 5

Yesterday was Veterans Day, and we wish a very happy one to all of our loved ones that have served. We appreciate you!

In celebration of our own special veteran that had the day off of work, we decided a little road trip was in order. Snow day!

Our little guys dressed up like walking pillows

Brendan doesn’t make snow angels, he makes snow owls.
503b02

Trevor says, “Can I lick snow?”
503t04

Daddy made a snowy owl for Brendan. The snow was just not quite packable enough for a big snowman.

Trevor wanted me to carry him instead of trudging through the snow.
503t07

I told him if he wanted me to pick him up, he had to make his cutest face possible
503t08

I carried him to the car
503t09

This cutie was happy to be unbundled. I am loving his transition sunglasses.

Lunch at a brewery

It was really crowded when we got there and it was quite loud. Bill was prepared, and the earplugs really helped until some of the crowd left.
503t10

We stopped for a quick tour at the observatory.
503bt04

We got there at exactly the wrong time. Most things to see were already closed and it was too early for the night tours. We did get to see a distant star even in the daylight, and the setting sun through their telescopes.

The boys are great road-trippers, and Bill is an awesome driver. Who would have thought that a couple of Arizona boys would be the first ones in the family playing in snow this season?

We want to wish a very happy birthday to Aunt Erin today! Hope it’s a great one!
