Year 8 – Week 19 – Day 4

The first few days of March have a few photos to put together in one quick post.

March 1st –

We occasionally meet up at the playground with a group of kids after school

March 2nd –
Just because the weather was so nice, we had to go back to the ostrich ranch AGAIN. This time we took the boys’ friend Graham.

My boys wanted to spend the whole day in the aviary with the lorikeets.

Graham did not want to come in! He was too nervous about the birds landing on him, but he got brave for a moment.

March 3rd –
Bill took the boys on a quick road trip up to a familiar little spot by the creek. Someone had chopped down the swing, so Bill put up a new one! This is “Swing 1”. He has now prepped kits of equipment to leave tree swings at several of our favorite camping destinations.

They spent the day just playing by the water.

Year 8 – Week 17 – Day 4

Spontaneous road trip day! We got a tip that the Little Colorado River was spiking in flow, which means that Grand Falls was probably running. This was the USGS graph at the peak. By the time we left, it had dropped to 20% of this max flow.

We were afraid of a heavy winter storm sweeping through northern AZ, but we made it with clear roads and sunshine. It was cold and WINDY!

“Are you done with pictures yet?”

I wish we could have seen that peak flow, but this was still amazing

Look at Trevor’s hair blowing!

Our spontaneous road trip buddies – Amber, Blake, and Blake

For scale, Amber and the Blakes are in the little overlook hut at the top of the falls.

There is Bill, Brendan and Trevor!

On the way home, we found that winter storm.

Here’s a 8x video from the dash cam driving through the snow. We made it through safely back to the sunny, warm, dry land at home.

Year 8 – Week 17 – Day 3

We can’t let too much time go by without a trip back to the ostrich ranch! We have to enjoy it while the weather is still beautiful. This day was gorgeous but super windy!

They have added a chicken feeding section since we were here last!

The boys love the ostriches, and all of the rest of the animals too. But their favorite part is easily the rainbow lorikeets. They just love that the birds can land on them.

After the ranch, we dropped Trevor off at the house and Brendan, Bendy and I went to see the new “How to Train Your Dragon” movie. We loved it! Who knew Bendy was a dragon rider?
