Week 39 – Day 7

Brendan’s night was horrible. We’ve just pushed his weaning too hard and he was not able to cope with the symptoms. After talking with the doctor this morning, we’ve had to take a few steps backwards in his drug schedule to stabilize him and then we will have to move forward at a more conservative pace.
After having his adjusted dose, he spent most the day kind of spaced out and tired but he refused to sleep.

He took a 10 minute nap holding on to the side of his crib like he thought he was going to fall out.

He woke up feeling a little better. The smiles took work, he only gave out a few. Brendan had to put on a shirt today so he could have a picture with Gramma and Trevor.

This is Trevor’s “I have to share Gramma’s lap with Brendan?!” face

“Brendan is putting his face in my hand space”

Having a brother isn’t so bad

Trevor wants the camera

Gramma had to give the boys five and a half weeks worth of hugs and kisses today. She got on a plane and went home, but will be back at the end of August for Brendan’s surgery admission. We all will miss her!

After a good solid nap tonight, Brendan woke up in a very happy mood and was ready for kicking in his bouncy seat. The boys played together while video chatting with The Bearded One and Aunt Schnah.

We are hoping for a much better night tonight. We are also hoping that Trevor has a good morning routine, he is going to have the biggest adjustment to make with Gramma gone.

Week 39 – Day 6

Brendan had such a miserable night, I felt so bad and I just tried to keep him comfortable, but there wasn’t too much I could do. Withdrawal is a terrible thing. His day wasn’t much better. We are grateful for the little bucket swing that calmed him enough to sleep.

It is hard to look in to this face all day and not have the ability to make it better.

He finally got to a point where he was able to get a nice deep sleep.

He did find his bath to be soothing and was able to relax tonight a bit. He seems to be doing a little better, but still is uncomfortable now as he tries to go to sleep. Daddy is rocking him.

Trevor is cute and awesome. In comparison, he had a fabulous day.

Gramma cuddles and tickles him. She is checked in on her flight for tomorrow afternoon. After 8 weeks with us, she finally has to go home.

Trevor is trying to figure out if his laptop can video chat so he can talk to the family in IL

We also have a little news that we have been waiting to share about what happened at Gramma’s birthday party. She got an extra big surprise!

She could not believe that this happened two years in a row!

Brendan and Trevor are going to have a new younger cousin in January!!! Congratulations Aunt Schnah and The Bearded One!!

Week 39 – Day 5

Another Saturday comes and goes and it is our night awake all night with no nurse. Brendan is having a miserable withdrawal night tonight, after a whole day of no smiles. We didn’t take any pictures until the last minute, but couldn’t get him to even ham for the camera. He is tired now and just uncomfortably fighting sleep while Gramma tries to rock him.

We can’t wait until all the weaning is over and he can feel better.

Trevor had a good day and went to bed early after skipping out of his afternoon nap again. Just as I was about to try to sell the baby swing, I remembered that it came with a tray that clicks on it. Trevor hasn’t been able to sit in the swing because he tries to sit up and hang over and I was worried about him falling. With the tray clicked in, he is definitely much more secure.

He was excited about the tray being something new

It is like a roller coaster ride… wheee!

Something else new today, Trevor got to try a slice of avocado. He tried it.. and he liked it!

He enjoyed mushing it in his fingers just as much as eating it.
