Week 10 – Day 6 – Happy New Year 2012

Happy New Year!

It was a quiet night, apart from the dogs going crazy with every pop of fireworks around the neighborhood. The boys didn’t seem to notice though.

Brendan decided to start the year off on his cranky foot. He was very upset for most of the morning and we could not do much to console him. Maybe it is his resolution for the new year, he changed from a baby that did not tolerate being held to a baby that did not tolerate being put down. The only way to get him to settle down was to keep him on me, so we both took a nap.

We got a cool mist humidifier to try to help Brendan with his poor dry nose. I notice the difference in my nose in the morning, but it didn’t seem to change anything for him yet. I can’t stop playing with the water vapor every time I walk by the thing though. (We continue to let Star Trek play in the background during the day. There are, after all, 177 episodes so it will last a while!)

The boys are starting to notice more of their surroundings which is good because there are more means to distract Brendan from his discomfort.

Did someone say cheeks??

Trevor’s sleeping patterns are improving. He went four hours between feedings last night, but then seems hungry every two hours during the day. His shirt should say Mommy’s Chunk!

It seems like the moment I try to sit and start to do something, the babies will cry. If I sit and do nothing (but not sleep), they sleep peacefully. How do they know anyway?!

Week 10 – Day 5 – New Year’s Eve!

The last day of 2011, what a seriously eventful year. On New Years Eve last year, we weren’t even sure we would be having a baby, let alone two babies, and certainly not such a complicated start to their new little lives. 2012 is going to be exciting, life is going to be so different. By New Year’s Eve next year, we could be chasing down two little walking monsters!

Last night Brendan had an amazing night. He didn’t cry once. He woke up several times but was comfortable and alert. We set up the cool projection mobile over the bed and he really got caught up looking at the lights. I think he saved up all the crying for the morning, because he has been a handful all day and has just settled down for a nap.

We did get him comfortable in his swing for a while

It just didn’t last too long

Trevor is spending more and more time awake, and getting plenty of exercise time. He is getting pretty strong with his head control.

The boys in bed with their cool mobile – The mobile would not attach to the pack & play, so we have it setup on my camera’s tripod.

We hope everyone has a safe New Year’s Eve!

Week 10 – Day 4

Happy Friday!

Just a few pictures to share from tonight, nothing new otherwise.

Brendan really likes his bath, but he hates to get out.

Clean, dry, dressed and smelling pretty. Brendan is fascinated by the lights in the kitchen.

All I wanted was to put the boys together for a photo. Trevor decided that he was going to eat his brother’s brains. Braaaaiiins.
