Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all who read this blog, because I know that we are moms!

Yesterday was Ashley’s piano recital. She is going to tell the story herself, and then I will put in the videos and a couple of photos. So here is Ashley with “The Story of My Recital”.

Yesterday at the recital, I preformed “My Heart Will Go On (Love theme from “Titanic”.),  Let It Go, Beauty and the Beast, and A Whole New World. The pedal wasn’t working so I kept messing up. (I was used to practicing with the pedal because that was how it was written.) Four other people played after me. I was supposed to go last, but one of the players got sick (in her car!) so I had to take her place and go first. After it ended I got pictures with Jim, Great Grandma, Grandaddy, Grandpa, And Kayla. Kayla gave me bunny ears. Then Kayla and I split a cookie with pink frosting and multicolor sprinkles. My feet hurt after walking in my new sandals because they have a three and a half inch heel. Yes, I measured it. I redid my songs at home where the pedal actually works. those were posted on the blog instead.

For those who want to see her recital performances, here are the links:

Her teacher had some things to say about her too!

And here are the new recordings that she wanted you to see!

After her performance, we took a couple of pictures to show that the new high-heeled sandals make Ashley taller than Great-Grandma!

  1. Ashley, you are an amazing pianist, singer, and performer!! I am so very proud of you. 🙂 I was at your recital, and you handled your performance beautifully, even though you didn’t have a working pedal. Your recordings on your piano at home are outstanding!
It was so very nice for you to bring your recital to Spring Meadows so that Jim could attend and hear you play.
In your new sandals, you were as tall, if not taller, than Grest-Grandma. She thought that was funny, since you are 10 years old, and she is 92!
Thank you Heather, Kevin, Kayla, and Ashley, for the really good dinner you all contributed to making tonight for Mother’s Day. I loved it! 🙂 Gizmo enjoyed coming over, too!
Lots of love and hugs and thank you’s,
    Gramma xxxx

  2. It was a nice treat to be able to hear all of the performances, thank you! Ashley, you did an amazing job with some very challenging pieces! And it was extra nice to hear your voice too! Singing and playing at the same time is hard, and you did it like a pro!
Happy Mother’s Day, Heather! I hope you had a great day today!

  3. Good morning from the East Coast!! Taking a chance on internet explorer…only way I know how to link in to see your post! (we have been told to eliminate IE because of security issues??) Security issues or not…this was an amazing post!! Ashley, you are truly a talented and beautiful young lady!! You and Kayla have such a gift!! The gift of music will always be your best friend!! When moments in life make you sad, music will make the sadness disappear!! Love and hugs!!! 🙂
