My first few days – by Kayla

???????????????????????????????

This is Kayla, here to talk about my first day of school. The picture is me in the school uniform, before i had to leave.

On the first day, the seniors did “prank day” where they wrapped tables in aluminum foil, put red cups all over, and put streamers up. The school day started with all the seniors greeting freshman, giving free hugs, and cheering. I then started my schedule.

My schedule starts with advisory, with my teacher Ms. McCourtny. In advisory we go over announcements, celebrate birthdays, and have fun.

After advisory is physics, which so far seems awesome. I already got to do an experiment and record data.

My second class is gym/health. Not much to say, just a normal gym class

My third class is algebra II/ trig. the first few days have been review days, but pretty soon I’m starting the new stuff

Fourth is world studies, where the class talks about current events and all the various regions in the world

Fifth is my lunch period, with amazing food! The cook told everyone that if they had a recipe, they should bring it in so that the cook might make it.

sixth period is theology, also known as world religions. In this class, i get to learn about different religions throughout the world.

seventh is latin class, because i decided to learn latin. I don’t know much yet, but i can say “the woman is in the farmhouse” which in latin is Femina est in villa.

Finally is my reading class, which hasn’t done to much yet, but will be doing lots of discussions in the future.

That’s all for now, but I’ll probably have more to say in a month or so.

  1. Nice blog, Kayla! It sounds like you’re going to be a busy girl this school year. It’s so nice to hear how happy and positive you are about your new school. That’s great!
My goodness, you’re taking classes I didn’t have until junior or senior year…and I never took Latin!
I wish you all good things at Woodlands Academy. I’m sure you’ll do well and make lots of new friends.
    I love you very much!
    Gramma xo

  2. Your World Studies, and Theology, sound like very interesting classes.
Learning about the different world religions will help you better understand why the world’s nations are what they are, and why there are such wide differences, and such close ties between certain countries.
Latin, was not one of my better “attempts at learning”, but I was rather interested in just how many languages throughout the world have so many similar words, because they were so strongly influence by the Language, and the power, of the Roman Empire.
Algebra, and Trigonometry, were two of my favorite subjects. Hope you enjoy those “learning curves”.
Of my “Bulletin board Signature lines”, my favorite is: “The greatest place to live life, is on the sharp leading edge of a learning curve.” I always enjoyed learning, I never, really ever got to like, “Homework” 😉 😉 🙂 Sounds to me like Woodlands is the right place for you….learn, enjoy, and have as much fun doing it all, as you can.

  3. Good morning from the East Coast!!! Kayla, I was thinking about you attending your new school! Best of luck to you!! I so enjoyed Latin in high school!! It helped so much when I studied nursing…most medical terminology has Latin roots! In fact, you will find that tons of words are derived from Latin!! Have a great time in school, making new friends and learning new things!! Love your uniform!!! We will look forward to your next posts!! Lots of love and big hugs!!! Say hi to the family for us!!! Again, have a great first year in high school!!! 🙂
