Week 2 – Day 4

Medical Update

Nothing really to report on the medical front, we are waiting for news on when we are moving and still waiting to hear on a surgery date. Brendan is stable, he just needs his lungs cleared pretty frequently. They were doing some blood work to make sure that the antibiotic they started was present in his blood at ideal levels. He vigorously protested when they tried to poke his heel for blood. He was crying real hard and not a sound comes out.
Great news is – I got to hold him today!!! Granted, I had to hold him and his whole bed-nest and all his wires at the same time. But, I got to rock him and talk to him for about an hour, and he slept very soundly. I am glad we both got some cuddle time in before he went for his surgery.

I missed the mess-with-Trevor times today, he was so sound asleep I wasn’t going to take any pictures. Bill and I will be going back tonight and I will take some then. The nurse told me that he took 20cc from the bottle this morning, but then on the next feed time, he didn’t want any. He will learn.
She also said that in order to go home, he has to go 5 days with none of his little breathing episodes. He is definitely improving on this too, so hopefully when he is eating right, that will be gone too.

I drove past the other hospital on my way home today. It is exactly 2 miles away from the first one, so it won’t be so bad going between them. I knew they were fairly close, but 2 miles is good!

Pictures Update!

Brendan has better color and looks a little more “filled out” today.

It only took 3 people and a well coordinated effort to get Brendan transferred to me, but it was worth it.
